This is my entry for Jazza's Challenge of the Month. I've never actually participated in the challenges before, but when I saw it was to color in one of Jazza's original line arts, I thought it would be a great way to experiment with emotion through color and environment.
This year I've been working more with YouTube account and actually have a speed art of this where I walk through the coloring processes on my channel. If you want to see the video follow this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDVpcfM4cow
And if you want to enter the challenge of the month head over to jazzastudios.com where you can download the line art for this picture.
Some story behind the image:
I wanted to portray a sense of sadness and the supernatural with this color and the environment of this illustration. Through out the picture I stuck mostly to de-saturated greens, yellow-greens, and blue-green, as well as added purple in as a complementary color.
In my mind I imagined the man used a ribbon that belong to his lost love to tie her cross together. The ribbon was her favorite color and that's why he brought violet roses to her grave. The glow from the ghost girl does effect the man and is a main light source. I like to think he will at some point turn around and see her, so they can have one last farewell before she passes on.
Thanks to everyone who checked out my version of Jazza's image. And if you like this art work I would love it if you joined me on one of my other social media sites:
