This sure is nothing like I've heard of a remix before, I'm only jealous that I'm not this good! Still it was alright, but it just did'nt ring that last bell in my head, the one that makes a direct relationship Kirby.
Intelligent drum and bass remix of the opening theme from "Kirby and the Amazing Mirror."
I made this song for OCRemix... Here are a few comments about the mix.
I originally made the second line for this song first, along with the drums and the gated atmospheric synth. I am using a cool free VST I found, called String Theory. I got it on KVR, and I would recommend it, it's awesome and can get some really warm sounds.
According to the judges at OCRemix, this song is really borderline, and with a bit of refining could get it. I used the edit feature a lot with this song, and this is probably the 5th version I've put on NG.
The remix part was difficult. All I had to work with was a 6 bar loop with 2 chords, and a short melody. In order to make it fit with the song, I had to extend it to an 8 bar loop, and I added some other chords to make it sound more like a progression. The saw you hear panning from ear to ear is playing the original chord, so that is what you should listen for.
In the slowdown, it goes into 3/4 time for a bit, so the original melody surfaces. You should be able to hear it, along with various ride and hat rhythms. The slowdown is new, and was suggested by the OCR judges.
This song is mastered after production in a new FL file, using Izotope Ozone. I used a tape harmonic exciter to really bring out the texture on the snare, and make the panning lfos I used liberally more visible, along with making the sub REALLY FREAKING LOUD.
So, I had fun with this, I'm not done yet, although I will be soon. Reviews are appreciated, and this new author commentary is fun :P

Yeah, the relationship between this song and the original track is tangential at best. The source track is basically a short melody that I tried to use throughout when I made this track all those years ago. I'm still jealous of me too, I'm not this good anymore. I might have gotten better at mixing and production, but I've lost that little spark of creativity that people who've got no clue what they're doing have. I kinda miss producing this freely sometimes...
Thanks for listening.
Really nice
I really liked the Right/Left effects you put in there. Sounds cool on headphones
Thanks! :)
Good
It needs to be a bit louder. I could barely hear the melody in the background. The drums are a little too loud. I think you did very well with it though. :)
The drums are a bit repetitive though. Distortion would be a good idea to employ on them for a bit of a crispy effect. Classic bass line btw
Thanks for trying to be helpful, but this song is quite old. I'm a whole lot better now :)
wow..
very very good. i love dnb snd this is a great dnb song, keep up the great work im adding you to my fav artists btw.
Nice
Nice i like the bases in it and the echos it could use a lil more power in the song though
Thanks for the advice! Thanks for reviewing! :)
