HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
This track was one of a handful that I made as "adventure music" for Leslie & Brianne's Galactic Rampage (possibly for part of the spaceship-infiltration section or the planet-exploration part of the Dudenbeaumodeme levels) but all except one of which were one by one set aside because they didn't quite come out how I wanted. I didn't quite know what I wanted either, until I got it, but hey, I got a decent soundtrack in the end, and one of the pieces that wasn't used came in handy for the ending credits, and this is it.
The others are filed away for later use... maybe. That's how the creative process often (but not always) goes. Sometimes you just keep reaching dead ends before you hit paydirt. Especially in music. More often than not I'll just be goofing around improvisationally in something of a flow state until a good bit of music unexpectedly jumps out and I have to record or transcribe it before it gets away. Ideally this will happen when I'm at my keyboard, and not, say, in the shower, or driving, or in bed at 2am.

Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this commentary on the music of Leslie & Brianne's Galactic Rampage. It was very satisfying to make music inspired by the DOS games (and in one case, a movie) of the '90s. I didn't really listen to much contemporary music back in those days, but I did play a lot of shareware games with music by the likes of Bobby Prince and Dan Froelich, so that's the general soundtrack I associate with the time, and it still influences my compositions today. It's neato to be able to apply that to a game that also took many of its cues from the games of the shareware era. They don't make 'em like that anymore. But some of us still do. :)
