Ahhh I love it. It's so charming!
I have British roots, and I've been on a Beatles binge for the past couple months. Any serious producer has to revisit the classics to cultivate musical knowledge ! It also signifies a change of sound, I want to get back to "earthly" textures and in general, acoustic instruments.
Very blues-y, I tried to go for a baroque-pop sound but inevitably abandoned it because it's out of my scope (even though I'm a huge Kate Bush fan, let's say it's better to appreciate than try to replicate). So I ended up with a Bri'ish take on Afro-American music.
Let me know what you think =]
Ahhh I love it. It's so charming!
Much appreciated =]
Michael McDonald vibes, I like it!
That's funny because I love the Doobie Brothers x] thank you !
Great!
Thank you so much =]
Question, are those real drums, snares and hi-hats or are they digital?
So there's a combination of many drum tracks :
1. The hi-hats you hear at 00:37 are live, and so is the cymbal crash.
2. The drums you hear beginning at 00:50 are samples, meaning the kick and snare.
3. The drums you hear in the chorus at 1:15 are live, but have been chopped, so it's essentially a sample.
4. The drums at 2:48 were sampled from "Melvin Bliss - Synthetic Substition", a really popular break.
5. The drum solo at 2:57 is entirely live, played by a friend of mine =]
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
