wow, this is beautiful man
This is the second track from the now defunct game "Unearthed: The Mines of Estra". This level featured a cave room filled with luminescent mushrooms. The brief was to make something that sounded "mushroomy", so I created some synth sounds that had a bit of a blossom on the amplitude - the sound starts quiet like the stem of a mushroom, then flares out and tapers as it reaches the top. I did something similar for some of the more percussive synths, but this envelope was used backwards. The rest of the musical choices were based around the general feeling of the room - there was something kind of curious, a little mysterious, and whimsical.
This was originally a loop so the form deviates from what I might have done had I been writing this for a sequential media format. (This release was edited to have a bit more of an end). I’ve written much more music for fixed media formats (like animation) so with this game score I experimented with various ways to hopefully prevent loops from getting tiresome or annoying. With this track, I used a relatively long build up into the “action” and an appreciable “cool down” period so when looping the beginning and ending combine to form a pretty long vamp section to give the ears a rest before ramping up again.
As previously mentioned on my last track release, The full album will be coming out on Wednesday, August 23rd, so I will be intermittently releasing all 5 tracks one a time here until then.
If you want to follow the release, use this link. You can currently preorder the album on bandcamp. More links will be added to that hyperfollow (such as Spotify) as they get processed by various streaming networks. Feel free to follow me on the various social media listed too (or don't. I'm not your dad).

means a lot coming from you. Thanks!
this makes me so happy
Very beautiful, magical, adventurous and explorative! It really reminds me of Donkey Kong Country music honestly (mostly stuff like Forest Interlude for some reason) except it still has a very original style. It definitely would fit some kind of mushroomy cave level I think. You did an amazing job with buildup and dynamics, and I love how the energy subtly increases as the song goes on. Just amazing and beautiful work in general, keep it coming!!!
Thank you!
