From Tasukete - Definitive Edition
So this is one of the darkest songs I've made, in tone at least. The honor of the absolute darkest song I've made still goes to that sinking feeling.
This track is the centerpiece of the album, everything before this builds to this track. The protagonist of the album finally breaks down and just starts screaming in absolute agony, anything to take the pain away. And yet, it remains despite it all.
This is a combination of two things: Make Noise Strega, and a synth combination I call "Pulse", which is the Make Noise Strega with a Yamaha PS-25. These two together unlock an array of interesting sounds. There's been many modifications to each of them; speed changes, reverb, equalization, and so on.
Those harrowing screams are yours truly. I recorded some new screams for 2024 finally. I tore my voice up pretty badly for them, yes, but it was very much worth it.
This is a track that I felt a little hesitant to release because of how extreme the tone is here. I swear, I'm of sound mind. Sometimes I make really dark material to get it out of my system so I can keep living.
This piece of music was the centerpiece of an art piece called "Breakdown" featured at Terrain 15 in Spokane, Washington. You can heard the specially made audio for that here.
If you want a deeper dive into the theme of this track and how it came to be, I talk about it in length in a deep look I made for this album.
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
