This song sounds like I'm
I've had a growing interest in organ music for about the past year ever since I began listening to classical music regularly. It started after listening to Johanne Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. I fell in love with the complexity of the melodies and harmonies being woven together. It was beautiful. I began trying to write a fugue (I still haven't made one I'm satisfied with yet...), and I stumbled across a tutorial on how a fugue works. It used "Little" Fugue in G Minor, which was also written by Bach, as an example. It's still my favorite organ piece.
As I continued diving into classical music, I began to continue loving Bach's music. While I utterly enjoy his cello suite in g major and many other pieces like it, his organ music always manages to intrigue me. And so earlier this year, I found Passacaglia in C minor. While I didn't like it a whole ton at first, I eventually found a version that was incredible, and I have wanted to write a piece like it. I haven't captured the emotion of that song in particular, but I am happy that I have been able to replicate the genre with my own tune and emotional character in music.
As a side note, I would also like to talk about my journey in composing this for the contest this is submitted in. I had actually prepared a beautiful orchestral opening, but due to computer glitches, it was erased. I continued to try new and different things, but I was not satisfied with my work. For a week I continued to delete or restart over and over again. Time was running short. I then thought that maybe I could compose a piece using only one instrument, and so I picked up an idea I'd had for a long time: to make an organ piece. In the span of about 3 hours this evening, I created one of my biggest personal accomplishments. I made something satisfying with the massive limitations that were used by one of my favorite composers ever.
I hope you guys enjoy this achievement of mine!
