I've been using Fruity loops 8 for about a week now and after uploading my first song, I started working on this one. It's a bit boring, but I made it mainly so that I could experiment with the mixer and get better at mastering. Hopefully the bass on this song isn't too overpowering, and nor are the drums (though the drums still need tweaking which im working on). It just a piano song, no strings or anything so I thought it'd best to put it in classical
Anyway, if any pros' have any advice that they could give me to improve the song, it would be really appreciated.
Teh melody is good
But all the keys are at same velocity. If you increase the volume on certain notes, You can stress the melody. A stressed melody sounds more humanlike than this. You'll see it will give your work a more professional touch.
Percussion is nice but needs to be mastered.
A fadeout is good.
Overall a good piece. It beats my first submission for sure.

Hey is there a way to do that in fruity loops? im guessing i should look for some tutorials on it! Yeah I'm having trouble with percussion but I have a friend who uses FL who's going to show me how to master it better. And thanks for the nice review! and Ill go check your stuff out for sure.

the piano seems to have a .. edge.. it's pretty .. squared in a way.. like its somehow random.. listen mate.. FEEL ur music.. listen to every step and feel if it's right the thing ur doing!
the percussion could need work too..
but ur on the way :-)

Hey thanks for the review, and yeah when I found this bassline (simple as it is) I started working on the "riffs" and I settled on three main riffs that I felt were the best sounding, but it needs more to it, i feel its lacking real depth.
Towards Nova
Not_bad so far/ I think you shouldnt worry too much about mastering at this stage, focus on the music 1st and leave the rest for the very end. The drums/bass are very "background" at the moment / supporting the main piano/melody, I think add some variation to the piano, perhaps even another part/key change?

Hey thanks. Yeah I started writing another piano part and a key change part, but i was suffering some horrible composers block at the time and everything I made sounded shit and the song started to become less of a fun song and more of a piece of work to be finished. The song I'm working on now is going to feature dual guitars and will hopefully be way more interesting =).
My advice to you...
Use more instruments. After 4mins of just piano and drums, i got bored. try using pads, synthes and melodies.
I think I will add more to it, because yeah its a boring song it was mainly made for me to test my mastering on. But thanks for the honesty and the 7 =)
