First, allow me to explain the basis of this song.
The melody of this song is that of "Un Canadien Errant." That song is
is very beautiful so I thought it would be tight to make
a little remix. But this is more than a remix, it's a full
orchestrated song.

What I did was to harmonize the song, add three verses; each verse
having its own properties:
Verse 1 - Soprano Woodwinds and Strings,
Tenor Woodwinds and Strings

Verse 2 - Alto Woodwinds and Strings,
Bass Woodwinds and Strings

Verse 3 - Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass Woodwinds and Strings

The evolution technique is plenty here, from chorus to verses to
build up to a final ending that is grand.

The name Almany is the name of a town in "Fire Side." A town consisting
of two main demographic groups, the filthy rich and the dirt poor. There is nothing
like middle class. So, this song is meant to be the song to Almany; this song is a good
"RPG town song."

Very nice

This is a very good song. Too bad I never played Carmen Sandiego, so I don't know how good your interpretation is, but it sure sounds nice.

The song doesn't stand out too much, but I guess this is because it was meant for a game. Game music shouldn't distract the player but give him something nice to listen to while he is playing.
The song achieves this goal. You can let this play in the background for quite some time without getting too distracted by it and you will have something nice to listen to, which doesn't get boring for a very long time.

thanx for the review. I'm glad I achieved it's goal =D

Ambient Classical

Not a bad piece - very evocative of a mood for a very good situation regarding the death of a loved one, I feel. Either that, or something sad in a game situation, where the protagonists are making what could well turn out to be life-changing decisions.

While it's not the best piece I've ever heard, it can certainly hold its own, especially within the genre. I think that the strings were slightly overused, and could have been complimented by a little more use of the woodwind section, maybe not to lighten the mood, but to give a more rounded feel for the emotional significance.

Thanx for the advice! You're not the only one who commented on the woodwinds. I agree with all yall who say that there needed to be more, but the woodwind VSTi's in my DAW arent all too great IMO and dont come with too much, and this was before I got Edirol.
I really like your interpretations to the song. They give me a broader perspective to future projects now that I can compare this song and my future projects based on your interpretations.
Thanx

Nice, even for Classical :D

I never really liked Classical, although I did enjoy this one. Definitely fits in an RPG-ish village.

The melodies here were great, so you chose a good song to remix. The instruments here were excellent too, and had amazing quality. I wish I had samples like that :'(. The string melodies were the best in my opinion, and towards the end they got really epic. I think the woodwind needs a bit more importance though, since I barely heard it.

The transitions were great, as they usually are in classical songs like this, and all the melodies mashed up so well together. This song has an excellent structure too, and it was really well varied without getting too random either. The beginning was great, and there's nothing wrong with it, and the ending truly did sound grand. I just think that the final note was a little too loud. Apart from that, the ending is definitely one of the best endings I've heard on Newgrounds.

In all, it's an excellent song, which I enjoyed quite a bit, even though I hate Classical. You even got me to download it. Great job! :D

wow, thanx man! I'm glad I got your attention in classical! I'm happy u liked the ending, it's probably my favorite ending of mine. It sounds so 'Disney.' I'm glad at the reception of this song by ppl so far. It shows that classical really is my prominent genre. I just love working with all the possible harmonies in the song.
Thanx!

I agree that this song would be a very good match with a flash submission that needed some sort of RPG town song. The first thing that comes to mind is a sprite animation with Zelda sprites or something village like.

The song itself was very relaxing. It sounds like the type of music that I would like to fall asleep to. Actually, it sounds like something that I would expect to hear back in the day at high school (Oh god so many years ago) when we were forced to watch the high school band. I would secretly pretend that I didn't enjoy the songs like most of the other kids, but the real situation was actually I was just becoming very relaxed, which looked like I was being bored.

This song does exactly that and makes me think about all of that. Perhaps it did go on for a bit long as 6 minutes is quite long to listen to any song, but really other than that it sounds very good.
