Please review this harshly ^-^ I want to know what I can and can not get away with in my music. But by all means, enjoy the song.

"An old man sits with a group of four children circled around him, as an ex-traveller, he tells stories of merchants, warriors, and mystics who he has encountered along The Silk Road...."

Epic

Nice Job.
I specifically liked that around 2 minutes in it changed from ancient sounding to more of a machine-like style for about a minute then changed back.
I think the choir is fine.
It compliments the music in itself.

Aeris responds:

Thanks for the compliments for the industrial sound, I was trying to get a sound like Nick Phoenix from Eastwest accomplished. Mine didn't come out /near/ as good xD

...Awesome...

I actually really like this, and what I like about most of your music is that it's experimental sounding, or otherwise unconventional. This is certainly true of this piece as well. Sure it has a bit of a classic Arabic sound to it similar to what you'd hear with a movie theme but I really like that, among many other things. In fact I was thinking that parts of this would have worked with the movie 13th Warrior...

Anyway, you asked for harsh reviews so I'm trying to be extra picky here...

The choir sounded a little too synthetic in this, at least compared to the other components used. Everything else through most of the song sounded so clean that it could have been recorded by an orchestra, so the contrast was notable but at the same time very easy to forget about.

Though overall I really like the use of the choir I couldn't help but wonder if parts of it wouldn't have sounded better in a deeper tone, maybe sounding a little more male... I have no idea, it's just something I was thinking about while listening.

But really that's as close as I can come to being critical of this. It was epic, mysterious and to tell the truth I have heard songs with lyrics that tell less of a story than this does!

Aeris responds:

Thanks so much for the review as always Thunder :]

I'm glad this tickled your fancy as you like xD

I could see how the choir could be seen as too synthetic, there was no male involved, perhaps you are right, it could use some male vocals.

I'm glad you found it as deep of a story as I intended :D But to be compared to lyrics as "greater" is quite a compliment, thanks ^-^

-Aeris
P.S. you did perfect "harshly reviewing." I would've never paid attention to the choir otherwise.

Well...

I already told you what I thought about this on AIM. But for what it is worth I wanted to show some love for this anyways. :-)

5/5 and 10/10 overall.

This has been favorited.

Aeris responds:

lol thanks Gravey :]
