Nice introduction. The slight filter-changes on the piano worked to make the first seconds not sound repetitive, though I think another synth could have possibly come in before 0:28 just to support the piano a little more.

When everything else comes in, you've got a nice mix going; the drum's there, but not cutting through anything, and there's a nice warmth of texture which works very well. At 0:58 when the pads cuts out I'm in two minds because the piano's not all that supported for about ten seconds, but then everything comes back at 1:10ish and it sounds pretty solid again.

While the initial piano riff is cool, having it play through for 2 minutes is overdoing it a little bit; changing the octaves or the instruments (As you do nearish 2:00) would help make the opening half of the track feel less static. And even then, 2:00-2:50 and onwards is just a repetition of the theme that's alreayd been, so I think definitely you could have used a second theme taking over the main one at points just to break it up a little more.

One definite thing to improve would be that, I think. You use the same chords, same melody and the same beat throughout, so by the 5th minute it feels incredibly repetitive. Break it up with different sections, different melodies or harmonies...you do well in changing the instrumentation a few times, but playing that melody straight through the whole thing runs that massive risk of it sounding like the same thing over and over. Especially as you sacrificed the bitrate quality to get it on NG, I'd say you could shorten this song quite significantly, thus having a higher quality track on here, and managing to keep it catchy, and not draggy, which is never a bad thing. This has definite potential though, so keep it up.

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks man.

I'll work on the repetitiveness when I make another track.

I don't really wanna shorten it, if someone wants a high quality version, they can just PM me (as comments say).

Nice

I saw that this song is based in the game ''Mirrors Edge", huh?? Man, I gotta have this game, the songs must be awesome, I wish my PC supports the game... But I have a little netbook...

Anyways, the song was pretty nice, you mixed the whole sounds very well, the drums fitted with the main beat and the bass was great too, it made a great sound together with the piano, what is great, since the piano added something more to the song... I think this song has a kind of epic feel, since the piano and the synts are very good, they work greatly together, every instrument is working well here, too bad the song is a bit too short, I could listen to this all day long...

As a lot of people said before, the song is very slow... I don't care about this, I just think that faster or not, the song would be as great as it's now... It's just a great song here, GST... You made a great evolution, my friend... Keep it up!!

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks for a great review again man.

Epic you say? Nice man, that's awesome :)

I'm glad you like this so much, I always enjoy reading your reviews!

Well

-It comes in way too slow as it takes thirty seconds for the main melody to actually kick into full gear. The piano is very static and stays with the same beat for most of the first two minutes. This makes the song feel very dull and uninventive. Also if at all possible make it multi-layered with either different octaves or complimenting rythms to add effect to the trance.

-Overall it's just way too slow and repetitive for me. If you want to really get into trance songs I would suggest making them a little less in length and speed it up a lot.

Dj-GST responds:

Slow fade in was for slow buildup, I like it.

K...

Trance songs are long and slow progressing, I know that much, so making it shorter would be dumb.

Trance isn't supposed to be fast man. When you listen to it it's suppoesed to feel like your in a trance, hence the genre.

If you want fast go listen to some Speedcore or something.

Well done, next time try your own stuff?

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but it sounds like you used the theme from the video game Mirror's Edge, "Still Alive," as a basis for your track. This isn't bad, because the melody is a very nice one, it just makes it seem somewhat unoriginal. I could tell you did try and change things up, and that's good. You seem to have a good idea of what you're doing, so maybe next time you should try something original. I bet it'll work better than you'd think. Keep it up!

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks for the 7 man.

Good first attempt!

This is pretty good, not bad for a first attempt. You have a melody which instantly gives you more than half. I don't think there's enough in the melody however. The part where the synth kicks in at 1:45 is a welcome change from the staccato line on the piano but I think it needs to be more complex.

I'm not a huge fan of the repeated sections either. There needs to be more variation in there. You've missed a massive opportunity to get some really fast, rhythmic gated pads on the second repeat. This track could really do with something like the pads in 'My Love' by Justin Timberlake.

I like your bass line to be honest. It reminds me of Kylie Minogue's recent stuff. Take that as a compliment or not but you can't fault the guys working on her production. You could try adding in the lower octave pulse on the beat to compliment the higher octave on the offbeat and fill out the low without changing the character... disco it up!

Your fade-out at the end is a little long but the loop is really good. This is a great first effort and I reckon there's better to come. Work on your melodies and variation. I wanted to give you 6.5 sooo 6/10 and 4/5.

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks man.

You got some good points, and to be honest, I'm glad you gave me a six.

I'll work on the repetitiveness, and I'll work on the pads a bit.
