Here's our latest Classical/Trailerscore song (remember, by 'our' I mean mine [Supersteph54's] and Echo's, since this is a shared account). While he worked on the melodies and instrumentation, I EQ'd his song a little bit and added my own drums.

This is supposed to have the style of Minutes to Midnight (http://www.newgrounds.co m/audio/listen/341287), hence the xylophone ending in the last one and starting in this one. This also makes use of a lot of strings, like in Minutes to Midnight, and the drum kit is similar. We tried to make it as epic as possible. The dark theme is prominent in each one too.

This uses random drum samples for the rock drums and East/West for the orchestral drums and all the other orchestral instruments like Strings, Piano, Brass, etc...

We're really proud of this submission, and we think it's one of our best. We worked for at least 4 weeks on this, and we'd really like feedback. I hope you enjoy this, and don't forget to leave a review!

EDIT: Thanks to Decibel for the awesome name!
...

EDIT2: We know it sounds similar to Lux Aeterna by now, and we can assure you that we did NOT copy it. Tks ;)

Love it!

I really love the new spin on an old track. I would love to find a project file of this for fl studio 9. I would love to play with it. Keep up the good work.

Epic.

This track sounds as if it was pulled right out of the album "Trailerhead" by Immediate Music. It has a certain "Requiem for a Dream" vibe in the middle, which I consider a strong point of the song.

Mood: brooding, somber, yet somehow defiant and fearless. Consistent but not repetitive. I'm sitting in a theater watching epic previews right now.

Raven-Guard responds:

Thanks a lot man. This is a pretty old song now, has some bad mixing too, but we're still proud of it.

Really glad you think of it as epic, and thanks again for the review!

Epic^_^

Yo, first off, I'm sorry about the month delay =/. But now I could finally get to this song. I must say, its pretty impressive. Really epic sounding. I know it sounds like requiem for a dream, but why would I bitch? Many songs these days sound like other songs. Its called inspiration. You hear a song, really like it, then take your own spin---creating something really original. My last two independent trance songs are based off Jpop songs I heard. But they still turned out really original. So for everyone saying that "this song is not good because it sounds like Requiem for a Dream," they're really ignorant.

Okay, so to sum it up, I really love the whole orchestral feel and the drums, but what got me the most was the dynamics. Beautifully done. And the songs structure is so well varied. This song never gets boring. Well done and keep it up! You already know that I know that you're swimming in talent, but tell your friend that he's swimming in talent too!
Well done!

Thanks a bunch for the support! That's exactly what Darklight and I have been telling everyone...

Yeah I definitely think they make the song sound more epic and powerful.

Good to hear, variety is usually our first goal.

Well..

This sounds too much like requiem for a dream, and I doubt it's a coincidence.

Try reading the Author's comments before you spurt out random accusations.

And if you're still not convinced, yes it sounds similar, but i can assure you that if you search throughout the internet you'll find hundreds of songs which the original song with a new drum beat or new instruments while ours is obviously different with only the first bit and a bit in the middle which sound close to the original.

So please, do me a favor, and if you're going to post a review, try and make it a bit less useless and nonsensical (Oh and make some more real music of your own before you go around accusing people)

I like it

It is a very simple but effective song. The section where it sounds like "Lux Aeterna" as you said could be worked on just a bit, since that sort of progression is a bit over used in a way. Maybe switch a couple of the notes of the melody and give it more oomph, i don't know if that makes esne but it's all i can think to say.

Also the drums felt a bit under-quality compared to the rest of the song, maybe find some higher quality drums, or maybe just better hi-hat and cymbol sounds cause they where a bit distracting.

Anyways liked it, and with a bit more tonal tweaking this could be even better =3

I get what you mean, and i take full responsibility for the similarity in the melodies. I guess i've heard that song one time too many on the internet and got influenced. Ive been working on fixing around the melody a bit but that might take a while im horribly busy right now.

Yes, drum samples tend to come out as the underdog in quality as East West is way better in terms of sample quality, so when you put the instruments from EW and the drums from downloaded samples together, you get a drastic difference in quality. Unfortunately, our budget is a bit too low right now to go around buying every single EW plugin (although i can assure you we'd like too :D)

Glad you liked it. Tonal tweaking is in progress xD

Tks for the review!
