my music degree.. This piece is a sonic interpretation of my grandfathers experiences as an R.A.F tale-gunner during the height of the battle of britain. Using Factual information from written accounts and log book entrys left by my grandfather i attempt to portray the tense and almost overwhelming feelings of urgency and panic as young recruits paranoia about engageing in mid air combat is confirmed as two german JU88 (Junkers) planes appear on the horizon and blast a hail of bullets into a less manouverible sunderland flying boat. only the staedfastness of the crew and the sheer genius of a pilot who managed to dive at 500 feet above sea level (a manouvere usually practiced at 2000+) to flank the german planes.
The logbook entry simply reads "Sortie" "One Ossible". In laymans terms it says we had a fight in the sky, think we got one of them.. Made on Cubase 5 using vst and audio. also melodys were derived from the morse code of the word Sortie.
