Been a long time since I composed a classical piece. Feels good, man.

So here's a piano piece, drenched in reverb, with only a string ensemble to accompany it. I personally like how it turned out.

Shame about the staic

A lovely tune that had just a little too much static on it for me - with the speakers on my laptop and in my headphones, there is quite a "fuzz" to the sounds at the height of the volume that they play at. I've tried turning the volume down here and it just isn't working.

I love the tempo and the fact that you've supported the piano with the strings, giving more balance to the piece, plus it seems such a well developed piece of music that you can rely on other areas rather than just the piano to pull this piece along. I'd suggest that adding a little (but not too much) percussion, just to give it a little breath of fresh air in the middle, towards the end of the tune. Just carry the beat and let the piano explore elsewhere, giving more variation and creativity to the piece as a whole.

Beautiful

Well I certainly enjoyed the melodies a lot. It all seemed to flow very beautifully. The only issue I saw with it was the excessive reverb, maybe you could tone it down just a tad...

Female vocals could definitely improve the piece, but you'd have to find the right ones or it would ruin it. Could be difficult but could pay off. Something to consider at least.

As a standalone piece it works quite well though. Other than the sound quality not sounding 100% with the reverb drench, I think you hit the nail on the head with the melody and synth. Sounds great to me.

Keep up the good work

lovely stuff.

wow what a brilliant piece.

in terms of composition i cant fault this piece. the chord progressions are brilliant, the strings back up the piano flawlessly. and its well structured. a truly beautiful piece.

the recording side is fine, but i think you shouldn't have gone quite so overboard with the reverd, it works in most places but theres a few moments when it could be reined in a bit.

all in all a lovely piece of music, kinda reminds me of coldplay (no offence intended). i think some vocals could set this piece alight, if you get some good soft breathy female vocals (something kinda like isobel campbell) it would work brilliantly. keep up the good work.

Nah it's cool, I'm a Coldplay fan myself.

Beautiful chords

The piano chords sound very beautiful actually. The extra sound chord you added makes it sound really nice. The overall flow of the rhythm seems to be soothing as well as pleasant to the ears it seems. What motivated you to play this on the piano anyways?

The tune kind of makes me feel a bit sad and remember sad things as well. So I guess you accomplished what you seeked to do anyways. Very beautiful and classical piece.

Overall, a nice and sad song for one to enjoy. Nice job on this Sawdust. Looking forward to more from you.
