Oh, How We Fall

Not as ambient as my usual stuff. This song is part of a slew of new songs that I haven't got a chance to record yet. All of them have been made outside of studio, which is much different from my usual stuff as up until now I have been strictly an in-studio artist.

This means we might be seeing me playing some live stuff here in a little bit. Who knows, but for now: this.

Enjoy!

I lie awake at night
staring inside my mind

this moment has stopped and still
I can't find my, way up right.

We are invisible
to those around
why can't I hear a sound now

we're so closed off now
compared to those around you
please don't think that I
Miss you anymore

Oh How we fall down
into this light
we pass each by

I wish it were so easy still
but I know that it is ringing here

Oh How we fall down
and it's stinging me
so ever clearly

Oh How we fall down
just in time for the parting sound

you are beautiful
Just the way you

You are beautiful
just the way you are

Discovered this lovely song on Newgrounds Radio!

I feel that the vocals could have been recorded and EQed a little better (though you do have a lovely singing voice) and the way the drums began in the middle of the song felt kinda off-putting.

But I'm sure you have improved quite a bit since uploading this about 11 years ago, and other than the two critiques above, I think it's a really nice song overall. :)

SensoryDecay responds:

Hey! Thank yah for the review! I can't remember exactly what I recorded the vocals with, but I'm pretty sure it was a headset microphone or something similar so it wasn't the best recording to EQ into the track. I'm still working on that, but have a new Motu M4 audio interface so vocals should sound better from now on.

For the drum transition there's actually a version of this song I tweaked for a music video that adds a smooth transition that makes the introduction to the drums less abrupt, but I just never got around to tweaking the actual song outside of the video which was just me being lazy.

Hope you enjoy some new tracks I've got coming out! Thanks again for the kind words!

Its impossible...

...to give this treasure less than 10 Points.
Look at the charts: Heartless and commercial Music, that sucks. I know that this isnt a secret, of course, but there are still corners to discover very good music.
I like the songs speed and the stop at the half.
Continue man, you have to be a star.

SensoryDecay responds:

haha, thank yah very much. We'll see about that whole star thing =P

Awesome

Great song. I love the rhythm especially. It was probably intentional but the transition to drums felt a little too abrupt to me. At any rate its fantastic from beginning to end. Keep up the good work! :)

SensoryDecay responds:

Yeah this is still a demo. It'll be polished up for the final album, thanks for the kind words.

...

..."I lie awake at night
staring inside my mind"

Oh, yes.. Even though I do not have much worries... I always do that. Every night, for a couple of hours. Why?

Even though I'm an easy-going one... An endless emptiness. Not a single thought wandering in my mind at night... That's.. strange.

Well, whatever.

It's a really good song.. A chill-outish, nostalgic(?) and emotional one but definitely not ambiet.

Totally awesome and deep lyrics. They're really important in every song with vocals(except for chorus, of course)... Especially their meaning.
Song can be pretty good even without lyrics that do make sense, but true value of one's piece is determined by them in the end.

10/10. Keep it up!

SensoryDecay responds:

This was an interesting piece lyrically. I really enjoy singing stream-of-conscience and did so on this song. I wrote the lyrics down afterward, but they started out completely stream of conscience, but always with the intent to tell a story or an emotion.

I agree, this album is straying from the ambient genre and likening more towards progressive/sound-scape rock. Alas, there is no genre for this here on newgrounds. I could lump this into the General Rock category, but I feel as though I'd get 0-bombed even more than in the ambient genre.

Eh. Whatever. It's the reviews that matter, not the votes. And as such, I thank you.
