here's my honest take -

Decent, the guitar/bass/drums sounds pretty good. The recording sounds great, other than the vocals , which you said aren't done yet. Vocally there's some flat spots but overall it sounds alright.

I can't really criticize the song writing because different strokes for different folks. However, while the rhythm section is really tight, I feel like it could be more interesting with a small lead line or maybe have the rhythm guitar pick out some single notes picked, right now It sounds just like power chords.

Either way, it sounds pretty solid, It will be interesting to ghear the finished version. As for your description it seems like you realize this isn't exactly "grunge", at least not in the typical idea of the genre.
