THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

Hey NG, I haven't been actively producing much lately, so not getting into the NGADM was no surprise. However, this has also motivated me to start producing more often, so here I present you with my latest piece. This is a mix of many genres, including trance, techno, tecktonik and house. This is the first time I've tried making Tecktonik, so feedback on that would be very appreciated.

There are things in here that need work, and I will probably get to those when I have time to do so. Most of these are either transitions or mixing, so it will not be too noticeable in the final product.

Enjoy.

EDIT 7/8/11: Added a piano melody, did some major tweaking to the main part and added more reverb to stuff.

Eerie beginning.

It sets quite a tone to introduce it. It just drags on a bit too much and seems too much like squeaking rubber shoes on school tile floors. I'm honestly not sure when the main song comes in, so I'm going to say at 1:15. There's not much in the background other than reverb at this point, which makes it less good. Then I noticed the actual beginning at 1:31. It sounds pretty good from there on, but the intro is WAY. TOO. LONG. Please shorten it or make it a bit "spicier".

By the time it reaches 2:30, it's just been the same thing for a solid minute. Too long again. At 2:48, it drops out and returns, which is cool. The problem is that it's still the same thing... I'm definitely bored by 3 minutes in, not a good sign for a song. Needs to vary. It mainly fades out, which isn't all that good.

Ok. Big thing that needs to be improved on. Repetitiveness. That pretty much ruined the song for me. While the instruments are cool, the mixing is good, and the overall feel is nice, it's just plain boring when you hear the same thing for two and a half minutes in a row. I suppose if this were designed to be a loop, that would make sense. But... not as it is. That just doesn't quite work. If you make it less repetitive and have quicker transitions, this could be quite the good track.

Good luck!

Thanks for the criticism, it really helps improve my tracks.

First off, in my defence, I think there were enough changes throughout the intro to keep it interesting, but I do agree with the repetitiveness of this at the 3 minute mark. I'm going to have to find a fix for that.

Thanks again for an honest and constructive review.

Pretty sweet

I have to say that is one sweet intro that helps lead the rest of the song actually. It makes the rest of the song feel pretty great to listen to and enjoy .The tune just seems to have a weird yet cheery effect as you listen to it the full way through actually. Really nice and pleasurable song too!!

The synth sounds awesome. Love how it manages to go up and then go down, breakdown, and then very quickly have the full song build back up and be enjoyable the full way again once more. Nicely done there.

The bass is very jumpy and sounds just right on the ears as I hear this full piece and just fully enjoy what it is offering to the listener as well. The drums are cool and come packing in triplets I see. Nice.

Overall, really cool house beat.

DjAbbic responds:

Thanks! The drums were a bit of luck, considering how the original beat was just a kick, hat, snare :P. I'm glad you liked the synths, they were the main focus of this song and I still think they need a bit of tweaking. I also spent quite awhile on the bass, it needed quite a large amount of tweaking until I decided enough was enough and it sounded like what I wanted it to sound like.

Thanks again for another great revuew :)

Nice intro

Great buildup towards the beginning of the track, sounds really good, and really gets the track started the best way possible, IMO, however, it might be going on for a bit too long before the track itself starts.

Around the 1.30 mark, when the beats hit, the track just jumps to an entirely new level. Amazing beats and a really catchy melody to it with some great synths, even backed up by some backing synths and with the rumbling bass synth.

It might be a bit repetitive for some, but this is absolutely the kind of music I'd like to hear at a club. The ending sounds somewhat odd though, very different from the track itself, and it drags out for some time.

DjAbbic responds:

Thanks for the comments. I myself thought it was rather repetitive, but I didn't want to change too much. I might change the ending, but that's not for certain. Thanks again for the review :)

Cool.

At first I didn't think much of it until the song picked up. It's a great party theme. Very much a fan of it. Gets abit repetitive but not that it weighs in badly. Just enough repetition to sound good.

DjAbbic responds:

Thanks :)
