Project 24

A quick theme I wrote this past week. Sounds video gamish...and I will come up with a better name for it in time. For now, Enjoy!

I find this song to be quite enjoyable. I feel it could fit in exploring a warehouse or space station.

The synth has a great atmosphere to it. The backing synth sounds a bit like space vocals and reminds me of Mother 3. The drums also sound quite fantastic and have a smooth rhythm.

The bass is nice, would be nice to hear a bit of funk from time to time, however it sounds fine as it is.

Overall, nothing wrong with this song as far as I can tell aside from bass needing a bit more funk from time to time.

Sweet! Thanks for the review, I have an 8-bit sounding version of this song, it would fit perfectly with the space station (background/ theme/ type) game! Bass is one topic I noticed I'm always critiqued on (I'll start paying more attention to the bass. One reason may be the fact that I'm not able to work with speakers at the moment and have to judge the quality of the bass, based on the different headphones I have.... IDK, Thanks very much for the review!!

Whoooo! Videogaming!

The Good:
-Okay, this is a pretty catchy tune coming in at about 0:09.
-The deep bass element coming in at 0:14 is pretty darn sweet.
-Drumline is pretty darn awesome, too bad the tune goes away then.
-You definitely knew when you didn't have enough material to continue it and stopped it there.
-I like the chopped pad thing that comes in with the first break.
-The harpsichord-type instrument plays some really nice arpeggios and chords.

The Not-So-Good:
-The deep bass during the drumset is just way too much. It pushes everything waaaaay back in the mix. The drumset itself might also be a culprit, but the deep bass also causes some mixing issues between the drum breaks. Try some more EQing and compression until the elements are more balanced.
-It's a bit short, I'd have liked it to be longer, even for a video game. :<
-If it's this short and you decide to have it loop... Make sure it loops properly! As it is, it loops in a way that's just "oh, this is definitely the beginning". The best loops sound like the song just continues without looping.

Overall: Pretty nice ideas, I like the instruments and composition for the most part - but the mixing REALLY kills this. Otherwise I'd have probably given it a 4/5. Good effort though, with just a little more effort in the mixing it'd be a piece I'd definitely want in a game!

Rinileki14 responds:

Thanks, the first time it plays through, it won't loop correctly. After that, it'll loop perfectly every time it goes back to the beginning. Thanks for the break-down of good and bad! :D

I like this one. The rhythm and the melody are pretty good. The beat does have a driving feel to it. Makes me want to start that damn game already, haha.

I also like that this loop keeps itself in the background. No annoying sounds or instruments. So it doesn't distract me from what I am doing. But I still get to listen to a nicely done loop at the same time.

Good work!

Nice! :) I have several more songs that are kind of like this but better, I just need to find the time to get them finished. Thanks a lot!
