This is another one of the 52 I did last year. After the summer I wanted to try my hand at orchestral music. So after listening to a lot of Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky, and reading a tutorial on epic orchestral composition, I dove in to about 5 compositions--this is one. I used East West Symphonic Orchestra for all the orchestral stuff. Superior Drummer II is used for the drums. Omnisphere and Reason are used for the synth and hand percussion underlying parts. I spent a good amount of time mixing, bussing, and adding effects to everything, which I do for most of my work. I use the characteristic Major 6ths/ minor 3rds in the strings frequently, with an underlying horn melody. As the piece evolves, it breaks into a kind of rockin orchestration with drumming.
