Exploring a new worlds as usual, a voyager finds himself on a planet that seems to be inhabited only by strange machines, most of which are connected to each other and stationary. Although the black assemblies are clearly mechanical, they read on the voyager's devices as organic. Overrun by curiosity, he removes a piece from one of the machines that appears to have been inactive for some time. An oil-like liquid spills everywhere from the metal chunk he has gathered for study. After digital analysis, the voyager discovers the liquid to be more akin to human blood than oil or fuel. Before he has time to indulge his now perked interest, one of the machines breaks off of the main rig. Fascinated, the voyager watches as the machine then takes a giant grotesque insect-like form. As soon as the machine gains the ability to move independently of it's main component, it viciously attacks the newcomer. Un-armed and generally non-confrontational, the voyager runs. The machine chases him through a mechanical jungle of black endlessness until finally the voyager is able to lure the aggressor into a trap where it is crushed by another of the machines. The voyager is allowed a few moments rest until he realizes that several of the machines in his area are beginning the same process. Surely they're gearing up to continue the attack!
