Alright well 5 for Harry Potter right outa the gate. I think you did a good job with originality.
This is a short remix of "Lily's Theme" from the 8th Harry Potter movie. I broke a couple of my own rules on this one. It's not very original (although I tried to make it as original as I could) and it sort of has a fade-out ending (which are rarely interesting in my opinion). Still, I LOVE this track. The female voice in the original has haunted me (in a good way) since the day I saw the movie! Unfortunately, I couldn't exactly mimic that in FL Studio. I tried to make it sound orchestral, too, but FruityLoops has a terrible selection of strings. Anyway, made February-March 2013, took me four hours, and hope you like it! Original is by Alexandre Desplat in case you want to hear it too. Oh...and you might have to turn up the volume a bit. :)

Haha, I was way into Harry Potter for a while, yeah. Thanks for stopping by!
I really like this! I actually haven't seen the 8th one yet. :3, but I still like this. It sounds dark, foreboding, and a little mysterious.
Thank you very much! :D As you can tell, I've received very mixed reviews on this track, so a little reassurance really makes me feel better! Thanks! :D
I like it, since it reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey, otherwise, as a cover, I agree with johnfn who said "Those strings sound like cheesy 80s film backgrounds strings..." Because honestly they do, and that's why I kind of like it, but it doesn't really fit with the source material.
Thank you! :D I agree. Hopefully sometime I'll be able to clean it up a bit with new instruments, because it's definitely not my best work, but nevertheless I appreciate your reviewing this. ;)
(Note - I review pretty harshly, so don't take a low score personally! I don't vote harshly.)
First, a pro tip - definitely find some better strings! Those strings sound like cheesy 80s film background strings. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but it's crucial that you improve them. Newgrounds has this great thread with 3.5gb of orchestral soundfonts (search for it), so there's really no excuse :-)
Other than that, it's hard for me to think of anything particularly insightful to say, since a cover hinges almost entirely on the quality of the instruments that you're using. I'd be cool if you could add a little more to the song in terms of personal ideas.
I just went and listened to the source material and it has a really beautiful female vocal (I see what you're talking about in the comments). You should give a little better voice to that vocal - perhaps with a violin or some sort of filtered synth.
Anyway keep it up. Let me know when you've improved the instrumental noises.
P.S.: The one time I feel like fadeouts are appropriate is when it's in the middle of a jam - indicating that the jam goes on and on forever, and you, as the observer, have merely left in the middle.
Thank you so much! :D I agree that I should've found something better to use for the strings. I'm working on getting Sakura for FL 10, but all the Imageline plugins are SO expensive! Anyway, thanks again for reviewing me back, man. I really appreciate it! ;)
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
