EnV - Sanctuary (Dylnmatrix Remix)

A project months in the making, and a project I'd almost given up hope on.

I started making this right after Envy released his song Sanctuary here to the portal. But as time passed, I lost inspiration, and ended up abandoning it for months, until last week when I got a huge burst of inspiration to finish this. This project killed my laptop's CPU, and at the current moment, it's almost unworkable. Thankfully, it's done.

A fusion of Trance and Dance, my old and new style, some glitching and scratching from Gross Beat in FL11, I hope you guys enjoy my remix of Envy's song Sanctuary!

Really great work there! I would say that this song is even better than the original one and that is really when a remix is succesful. I am also amazed just how much stuff there is in the song with all the stuff that is happening in the background. Can't really find anything bad about this song.

This is a very catchy song. The song flows really well with a perfectly timed intro/outro and build-ups, and new content appears just in time to stop over-repetition. I loved all the little sub-melodies, 'twiddles' and the very full texture, as they all really filled my ears, yet the other parts never distracted me from the melody.

I haven't heard the original, but this is an excellent song.
Geez, you requested a review... But I honestly can't find anything which needs improving!

Dylnmatrix responds:

Sorry for the late response, but ahhhhh so much praise. >3< You guys are making me blush, seriously. I'm so surprised people are liking this song so much, especially with it being a remix of one of Envy's songs. Especially when it came to the end of working on it, I just started goofing off and messing around with it, keeping what I liked, which was pretty much everything.

Goddamn. Excuse me while I go jump around like an excited little girl. Thanks for the review Oshii!

This is an excellent remix. I could sit here and listen to this all day. I'm quite glad you didn't give up on this track, and I'm glad you are submitting excellent music here on Newgrounds. I hope you continue to work on some more stuff, because I will definitely be watching your progress! You could be quite the inspiration to some of the younger and less experienced musicians around here.

Five stars and a five vote.

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks Bosa! I'm really glad you liked the track and thank you for the kind words. I'll definitely be continuing to make music, I actually have a couple projects in the works. My job is cutting off my free time and wi-fi is hard to find around here, but I'll be uploading new songs eventually.

Yes! :D Just in time for my B-day! Personally I love the original, but you really made this your own, Matt! It's very catchy and melodic. Smooth-flowing, awesome instruments and harmonies, and the frantic synths and little melodies really added a lot to the piece. I have to say, however, I don't necessarily like the distorted-ness around 3:30. However, it had a strong finish, and I love how you managed to maintain the mood and melody of the original while also putting your own twist on it! Excellent work as always, Matt! :D

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks man, and happy birthday! I also really love the original, and I think this still pales in comparison to that, but I wanted to add my own flair to it and actually try to figure out some of Envy's melodies by ear.

I had a lot of fun making this, and I'm glad you liked this! Yeah, the distortion at 3:30 could have been done better, but it was added around the time my laptop started freaking out, and it was getting harder and harder to update little things in the track, as I'd have to render a new wave file each time I updated something. But I do still believe it sounds cool enough to stay in the track, even if it's a little out of place.

Thanks for the review, man! Always means a lot to me.
