I hear nothing about this beat that is out of place or unusual. Perhaps because I am often a voice of mechanical terror my self, or so I've been told. This was moving, with a particular momentum building around the 2:10 mark. I began smiling, but I was hoping for more of a climactic finish. Perhaps next time? :)

I remember when I was a young kid going to the library and picking up a book adaptation of the 1979 movie Alien filled with pictures of dark images leaving doubt of what it is that's left unseen. Ever since then, the movie always gave me a sense of nostalgia. To this day with all the claustrophobic settings, and screeching cries, it has been a remedy for my insomnia.
I wanted to construct a piece around Samulis's Miscellania I: Horror samples.

I was thinking of the bass synth as a heart beat because of my own palpitations that I have experienced. The synth is to represent a human heart, hence the name ectopic, because you're right that there isn't anything unusual in the music itself.
This type of sound and what you're accustomed to writing is something that I have yet to develop more as I find this sort of thing very therapeutic as much so as any other kind of music that one would describe as "easy on the ears."
I can't stop turning to check that no one is at my window now...
