Didn't expect another Darius track on this website at all!
While not my cup of tea genre-wise, the style you went with wouldn't feel out of place in an actual Darius game in my opinion.
Very nice job!
This was hella challenging to accomplish, in EVERY WAY! From memorizing and arranging the original melody parts to even balancing the volume levels of everything.
This whole project took me a month and a half to complete. That's got to be the longest I've ever put so much hours of brain power into a project, so far!
Some of these beats I've put together were all from scratch; some of these are from using one-shot percussion things from my ACID Style music maker software. Some of the others were made from this cool little drum machine thing I found online... I've definitely improved a lot when it comes to making my own custom beats.
Much thanks and credit goes to InstruMental from SoundCloud for this one awesome beat (that starts at 0:41); https://soundcloud.com/dj4kat-instrumentals/89-dj4kat-drum-loop-09 (I had to slow the tempo down quite a bit so it would fit with what I had arranged past the intro part.)
Aside from that, a lot of the rest is sample stuff I've created. The first voice is my own voice on reverb. I wanted to do a computer voice for the message of the approaching boss spaceship that flashes on the screen, just before it arrives to attack your ship.
Thanks goes to my bud Lexa Hergon for the pilot voice idea! In addition to that, I used an FX that sounds like the ship flying by on the way to attack Killer Hijia.

Thanks for your honest review. Yeah, I agree. If there was a Darius Twin remake, this style of music would fit right in with it!
I know I remember this other, slow new-age keyboard jazz type of feel for another Darius Twin remix idea. I'm not sure when I'll start it though. I already have another remix project in progress.
It's great to know there's a remix of a Darius song in the Newgrounds audio portal! Some of the beats feel noticeably off-tempo, though. I really like the part at around 1:17. You've definitely got the heart in this song.
Yeah, I've figured I may have gone a bit over the top on this one. One day, I'll have to go about redoing this.
I have one more Darius Twin remix idea in mind, and I'll start that project eventually!
Hmmm not sure what to think of this. I appreciate the effort that was clearly put into this, which was definitely a good learning experience for you so that is always a good thing. But I personally found this a bit difficult to listen to, just cause it was a bit difficult to follow what was going on. This can be a good thing for some people, but it's not really not to my taste.
However, I would say this would work quite well as background music to a futuristic platformer in a game, since it does have that kind of futuristic feel. So that's a positive that you can take. But as something to listen to out of my own good intentions, I wouldn't. I'm trying not to sound too harsh here, if I sound like a bit of a dick I'm really not trying to be.
But overall, I would give this a 6/10, would probably listen to while jumping over space robots.
Hey, thanks for your honest thoughts.
I can understand the various responses from others who give this a listen, probably because Darius Twin isn't a very well known Super Nintendo title... I think I'll edit in a link to the original version of this boss theme in the remixes description. Should have done that earlier, but I forgot. ^^;
Interesting stuff.
I have to admit I didn't get the idea at the first play, I got a little distracted by all those custom beats, rhythms and rolls, but after a couple of listens, I managed to follow "the line" of this track, was some sort of acquired taste (in a good sense). I liked all the experimentation with the drum patterns and the synth lines, the only thing I feel out of place with the rest is that "rubber bass" around 1:45.
Yeah, I put a handful of different beats in that, huh? XD I think I used 3 different kind of bass sounds, and those few variations of synths for the main melody, and the background melodies during the second variation... I created those from my VST. :)
not bad
Cool. I'm fine by that. Thanks for listening.
