Alright. This was my submission for the first round of the NGMT 2015 competition. The objective was to use percussional intruments only (that is, plucked strings count as percussion). If you want to know what the NGMT is, check out this thread!

Anywho. I kinda copped out a bit on the first round, and I only made this short track on the very last day. Somehow, I still managed to get a few points o.O

I'm hoping to up my play for the second round. But first, I'm currently composing a more mysterious track which is piano based (which might be used in the BRUCE project). I'm liking where it's going, but I'm not sure it'll fit. It's a bit too emotionally varied to be good for something like that, I think, but we'll see :)
I'm hoping to make three tracks all in all these coming two weeks.

Ooo...it's something quite different! I thought the texture was a little busy, especially when you have two very melodic contrapuntal lines going at once from around :18 to :41. Still, an interesting and catchy experiment. I wish it looped - I think that could've worked well. The percussion is really fun, though, and I think your mixing is improving. I should really go searching some old contest threads for more of these submissions. Keep it up, man! ;)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

You know, I thought about making this loop. But I didn't in the end! Which is quite unusual a decision, considering I am the one who made it. I guess I figured people probably didn't want more of this xD

I made the percussion first, from scratch, with a surprisingly basic plugin which came with my former version of Cubase. I think the mix here works surprisingly well, but this is a pretty simple piece. I hope I've improved a bit since I made this too, though! :D

Sick Groove man. I was debating trying for this contest, but I got so busy. Anyway. You used some interesting elements. Your main melody is sweet. Awesome job! I should walk into a bar with this playing. haha

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Ahaha, so everyone is reviewing this track now? Cool :p
Yeah, it has some neat ideas, but unfortunately I never realy went anywhere with them. Actually, the theme for the second track is to make pub music with only a Fluid GM bank soundfont :D

COOL BASS GROOVE YO

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Out of all my tracks, this is the one you choose to randomly review? Well, thanks for checking my stuff out once in a while :p
I still owe you like 2 reviews and a loooong review response, so I've got nothing to complain about.

This is pretty good but not as good as what you have put out in the past. I guess because your only given so much. At the same time it's still good because it sounds good in a different way, just not my cup of tea but it still sounds good. What I really like about this track, though is that you took what they gave you (percussion) and made it fuse well as you always do. Again, not my cop of tea so that may be where Im coming from when I say pretty good but not your best. Your awesome no matter what you do in my opinion.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Oh yeah, no worries about me taking it hard, because you're right. This is a rushed work in general, in a genre I'm not too good at :p
It's really too short to be interesting without being a loop too. Obviously, I didn't put even 20% of the effort into this track as I did in examplewise NGADM.

But I am working on a track right now that I think will be pretty cool. If it'll fit, you can use it in BRUCE when it's done. Sorry it's taking time, but I'm working on getting some interesting chords and melodies into it, as it's a mostly piano composition after all. I'm hoping I'll be done sometime on Sunday, but I have a friend's birthday party to celebrate all day tomorrow, so we'll see. I think it's worth looking forward to as a track though. It's currently mystery/horror/tension but maybe a bit too moving and might have a slightly odd feel for BRUCE. We'll see :)

I'll respond to your message when I'm done! Thanks for leaving yet another review, dude. Your covers lately have been awesome, and your voice acting in the remake of Ghost Motel was spectacular!!! Keep it up :)
