Gotta agree with Setu-Firestorm
I think he/she said it perfectly: this sounds like a body without a head. With that said, its a damn good body. I thought the beat was the focal point: really crisp, but also really repetitive. The measure could be mixed up a bit, or at least have more to it. Other than that, I liked the synth; I kind of enjoyed how soft it sounds, seemed deliberate to me, but I suppose not. Seriously, though, all the little things aside, take this piece and add some sort of melodic hook to it; a good example of a song that sounds much like this (with the hook) is "Roygbiv" by Boards of Canada; if you listen to it, I'm sure you'll know what I mean. Still, I really enjoyed it; let me know if you rerelease this song or something.
so
whare's the harmonica? I was expecting some huzzabizza when I saw the title OH THANKS for spoiling that for me. It just seems like a single synth. I really believe you could add more than that in the start. The pad is really low. The drum sounds good and incredibly repetitive.
But well I don't care
Yup, unfortunately no harmonica, I really should have rethought the name :P
Not bad
First of all, everyone's going to expect a harmonica with that title, but that's beside the point.
Anywho, the way your mixing is set up makes it feel like the synths and drums are two ballparks playing in the same song; that's not necissarily bad, it's just something that stands out. The drums have great compression applied to them, but either they should come down a bit in volume or the synths should be brought up. Not to mention a melodic synth wouldn't hurt. This piece sounds like a good body without a head.
Altogether though, you have something to work with, so I'd say keep it up!
Hah, ya, I just choose the title cause it sounded neat, and it was the first thing that came to my head when I was thinking of a name. Thanks for the review, and I agree, I really should of turned up the volume on the synth.
well...
seriously, i was waiting for a true harmonica. So, that pretty, but not what want.
Main complaint seems to be with the name XD
At least it seems like you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review.
