T-Logic - Call of the Wind

This project was made in 4-5 hours in Logic Pro X in March and April of 2018. The first 1.5 minutes were originally submitted to the CHIPS Cacophony Bonus Round 1 (https://chipscompo.com/compo/48), and after it received some pretty encouraging feedback I decided to extend it and upload it here. Originally titled "Dance of the Wind and Fog," it slowly morphed into 2.5 minutes of dissonant ambient music. Wish I could've spent more time on it, but I continue to mooch off of my school's copy of Logic, and there are other projects I'd rather work on now that I'm back home between semesters. Hope you enjoy!

Well, definitely unconventional chord progressions.
Sounds pretty lackluster and weird, in a nice way. The part with the organ doesn't sound like it belongs in the song, though. Too "normal" for a somewhat chaotic piano melody. The drums are a bit lacking in my opinion. Doesn't have enough oompf. I like drums with oompf. It sounds like a level of Psychonauts (not as in the actual soundtrack, but from what vibe I feel from the game). I suggest you listen to Alfa Mist, especially his album Antiphon. It's got great jazz progressions and a calm feel, and it's very reminiscent of this track.

Thanks, and have fun!

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks so much for the review, man! I agree about the drums. I felt like the piece was missing some energy, so I hobbled them together last-minute. I appreciate the feedback about the organ, too - I guess I didn't think about how it vibed with the piano melody in that way. I'll check out Alfa Mist right now! Thanks again for the review. ;)

I like the jazzy feel this piece has. The piano playing is splendid. I hope you use piano in this fashion in future pieces.

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks BO! There are quite a few non-tonal chords, which probably explains the jazzy feel (along with the instrumentation). I'm not sure I have a very good piano sample for FL Studio, but I'll certainly work on getting one. Thanks again for the review! :)

I like the vibe of this track! It's quite ambient, which I'm sure you know I appreciate :p
The melodies are interesting as well, and pretty for that matter. The progression keeps the listener focused, and the choice of instruments is pretty neat. Cool piece!

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks Ale! AMBIENT FOREVER. I'm really glad you like the melodies, as I made them rather quickly. Instrumentation was meant to make it sound as creepy as possible. :) Thanks again for the review!
