Hi NG! I'm sure you didn't expect something like this coming from me but... here we go trying out rock-pop with my dear friend Diego (singer & songwriter of this project). This was a project we made together trying to get out of my comfort zone and adding layers and layers of depth with guitars, bass and drums. Hope you guys like it! :D

Love the vibe of this song, lots of sentimental "feel-good" elements (with a hint of anime OP XD)!!

The form and composition all together sound pretty solid! The chords and the guitar lines sound really well together and there's really good dynamic contrast between each section of the song! Also great vocals!! I don't speak spanish, but everything sounds really natural and fit entire vibe of the song really well! Overall it's a really well put together song and I don't really have any issues on how it was written!

Although I don't really have issue with the composition of the song, the mix needs a little bit of work. The low frequencies are brought out a bit too much and the high frequencies are drowned out too much throughout the whole track. I'd turn down the overall volume of the bass just a bit and bring out a little bit more treble in it as well. Also the cymbals in the drums need to brought a lot more too, I can barely hear them. You can also probably turn down the volume of the rhythm guitars during the chorus just so that your voice can come out a bit more there.

Those are the biggest notes I had, but none of those "issues" really took away from the song as a whole. I felt like this was really well put together and I could see myself listening to this on repeat without a problem! Keep up the awesome songwriting!!

Was a pleasure listening to your song. Don't understant a word, but I like the uplifting and at the same time melancholic feeling the song conveys. What I don't like so much ich this... let me call it "volume wobbling" in the lower frequency range, especially in the first part of the song. Can't find better words for it right now. Furthermore, in my opinion there's a little too much weight on these low frequencies, but apart from that, I think it's a very decent and clear mixing. Since I'm a fan of more expansive pieces of music, I would have liked to hear more of the very nice quiet parts. More would have been more in this case =)
The solo guitar from at around 2:50 is very well placed and gives the piece a deserved end.

Dj-Gonzo responds:

Thanks for your review Maruquop! We tried our best with the bass record we made, it might be a mic issue that went through after recording. We'll try our best for our next project together, glad you liked the composition, really appreciated!

Mixing these kind of rock projects is a new challenge for me, glad it turned out ok being this the first time I'm trying :)

Nice song! Unfortunately I don't speak spanish very well so I can't comment on the lyrics. I like the melody, it's uncommon and very enjoyable. I'm always more of an instrumental person so I like more complexity but with lyrics you pretty much can't go wrong. I like the pad you have going on in the chorus. The beginning and ending of the song are great!

I'd like to hear some stronger singing, maybe with a better mic (you can get a decent one for 100 or so) I also think I heard some peaking on the mic so be wary of that (better mic+stand back). Overall the master is alright, a lot of the highs are clipped which isn't good for rock, reduce your choke on them and it will sound muuuch better.

Dj-Gonzo responds:

Thanks for your review! The pad was actually a slightly vocoded recording from Diego's voice with a ton of reverb and filtering. About the mic, we did our best with our current material, I tried to avoid peaking on it with compression but, in order to avoid lowering the volume too much, some of the peaking still remains. We'll try our best on our next project together, thanks for checking this out :D
