I suddenly feel funky. Nice job. Keep up the awesome. :)
This was an experiment. I've never really produced something like this, and I learned a lot along the way. The percussion of 70's dance music has such a specific sound. I always feel like the bass and treble are rolled back a bit, yet it still has a really satisfying punch. I need to look more into the original recording techniques of that era since I believe there's some tricky compression wizardry involved in getting that 70's "smack".
I've "borrowed" some melodic and harmonic motifs from popular disco tracks. See how many references you can hear.
Shout out to my new (to me) Art Pro VLA II tube compressor for making my shitty bass playing sound somewhat decent. It's cheap (especially second hand) but does the job. I hope this doesn't awaken some hidden lust for outboard gear now.
Let me know if you want to use this in something or would like to commission new music.
