Chasing Parallels

hey y'all here is a song i worked way too long on and idk how i feel about it l, and it makes me sad :'( it'll probably be one of the black sheep tracks on an album if not just released by itself. mix is a lil lazy

Lyrics:

The fence out back is coming apart

The panels rest where they fall in the yard

Leave them where they lay

Leave them where they lay

It's made a window to an odyssey

Where passersby travel the alley looking just like me

I only wish we could meet

Are you gonna keep that pace

Looking dead ahead

I will run along your side

Chasing parallel

We'll never meet

Even though our eyes do daily

At least we'll never cross each other's lines

But you will always cross my mind

Boundaries bend to none of my barks

So I tend to question the strength of my high

Stature's a grand excuse

To pretend you're above abuse

Comes in many forms you know (like big puppy dog eyes)

Like an unblameable and deceptively simple adorable device

Are you gonna trust this face

Looking through the gaps

If I don't look threatening

Could you even tell

We've never met

Even though we walk and talk on the daily

We've kept our distance, kept our pace of mind

Till I crossed the line

[[ FRETLESS Guitar solo ]]

And if the bark is worse

(Will you be silenced)

And if the bite leaves a mark

(Will you be healing)

And if the love looks like hurt

Will you align the two forever

Are you gonna keep your grace(x4)

overly creative song! i think you have quite a lot of personality in your vocals, even if sometimes can sound a bit goofy or too theatrical to me haha. but it works in favour of the storytelling, in this case
great job! <3

You are the voice of the new generation. Absolutely a phenomena.

Kor-Rune responds:

i love you i love you thank you for the kind words

needed them today <3

I like the eerie chimes at the beginning, and the breathy vocals contribute to the ominous tone of the piece overall. I like the echo effects at around :35 too, but I feel like the vocals at :42 were a bit dry by comparison. The lyrics have a strong narrative inclination, and the composition itself is also full of variety. The motif of "parallel lines" is really clever, too. Occasionally, the big pitch jumps in the melodies are a bit jarring, notably at :20 ("yard"). The mix sounds really good to my ears, and the dense and jazzy texture later on in the piece is just engrossing. The glitchy solo at 2:51 is awesome, and the vocal layering at around 2:30 is great too. The piece comes together really well as a cohesive thematic whole, even while the composition itself is full of surprises. Brilliant piece, Kor-Rune. Please upload more in 2021! Also, if you ever put this on an album, please PM me - I'd love to snag a DL. ^^

Kor-Rune responds:

Thank you so much for the shout and feedback !! I will absolutely let you know, there's several tracks im putting together for such a thing :')

It's criminal the fact that you aren't more popular on this site. The mix doesn't bother me too much, but listening to your music just makes me so happy.

Kor-Rune responds:

thank you so so much 💕 its definitely my fault for being inactive haha. I really credit this website for my musical development through the audio community so I will always post here first. Such a hidden gem of a place for musicians!! Thanks again

I'm a huge fan of your work. You're one of the very few people who not only make but also UNDERSTAND progressive rock.

Kor-Rune responds:

Thank you so much 😭 it means a lot to hear that, i barely understand regular rock x(
