My first orchestral piece... so bear with me.

Not bad for a first attempt

For a first attempt at an orchesrated piece, this really isn't bad. Some things that you should work on in this pice are thus:
1. Though you had many diverse elements in the song, they did not seem to work together as they should. Except in very special instances, orchestral pieces tend to harmonize their sounds together. The beginning of the piece is quite good in this regard, but later, when the heavy snare drum comes in, the harmony starts to fall off.
2. A little heavy with the precussion. Throughout much of the song, the precussion tends to domanate all the other sounds. While this can be a good thing in some types of music, like military marches, in this piece, it seems to steal the attention away from the brass and woodwinds section. I think that the song would be a little more enjoyable if you cut back on the drums a tad.
3. The last thing is just a personal note. I find that orchestrated pieces are somewhat more enjoyable when you pick a certain type of instrument or a certain section to hold the lead through the whole song with the others working to support it.
Other than that, I would say that this is a good start, but that it needs a little more work to be perfect. Keep working on it and you will be great at this.

LoneEagle responds:

After reading your well written review i have to say that i agree with you. Thanks a lot for this is helpful feedback and if i happen to make some classical music again i will go back to this review so that i don't make the same mistakes again... or at least try to.

Thank you denvermagi.

good

One of your best pieces so far i thought, ive got gripes with the drums (i think its a snare?), but im beggining to think its simply me not liking them now instead of your talent with them.

Good work and keep on trying.

A new road and so a new future.

LoneEagle responds:

I agree with you about this being one of my best so far... I've got a song cooking up in the oven right now but it won't be done until a few days. Anyways thanks a bunch for the review.

Oi! :)

So you did enter, not with a custom submission but with a cool one none the less. For a first try at a classical piece this is really good. I can imagen this one in a RPG like game like "secret of mana" or something like that.

I wouldn't say that it could fit well as a tankmen theme, since it's more like a funny animation but Utah has the final word as a judge. :)

It's emotionpacked and sad. Hence the title! :) As suggested I would stick with classic if I were you. Good job and good luck!

Thanks for your vote, DarKsidE_555! You voted 5 for The Fall and Rise of a Hero, raising its score from 4.00 to 4.09.

LoneEagle responds:

That was my dilemma, should i enter the contest or not? I wasn't too sure as i know that this piece is not what suits best the tankmen... but i said meh what the hell i'll just submit it anyways and see what others think.

I really don't think i'm not "going to stick" with clasical music. I really like to raom free and however a song turns out then that's how it is. If it turns out being a classical song then great :) It surely is good to know that there's another door opened for me... which is classical music hehe.

Thanks alot for the vote and review man.

cool!

awesome intro, but the next part was totally different...not that thats bad or anything...wow! this is really cool. i liked the snare especially because it was really different from other snare parts. it definitely pushed the piece forward...

brass was awesome...i play the horn and there werer some awesome chords in there.

wat instrument was that in the beginning! idk wat is sounded like...

i also liked that flute in the backround with the trill type stuff

th melodies were also really cool and the backround vox were cool, but i only heard them once or twice

awesome piece and u shouldnt stop the classical dude!

LoneEagle responds:

Hehe you see when i made this track it first started with the trumpets that are in the second part of the song. After that i made the short intro with the brass and strings. It just turned out this way lol with the first part, from 0 to 36 secs, the fall of the hero and from 36 to 151, the rise of the hero hence the name of the song.

Saying that it's "really different" is a great compliment and i thank you for that.

You play the horn? That's awesome! You know i used to play flute in highschool and then clarinet. I bought a trumpet some time ago and i should really practice playing it but i'm just a lazy ass right now :(

The instruments in the beginning, after the short intro you mean? There was flute and then oboe with some harp. I don't know if the harp sounded realistic enough though cause i don't really remember hearing an actual harp being played... only in the videogames i hear them...

You can hear the choir 4 times in this piece... 3 times between the 2 brass segments of the second half of the song and 1 time towards the end of the song. Maestro also told me that he had troubles hearing the choirs... maybe my speakers are betraying me lol.

I don't know when the next classical will come up because it really depends on how the first melodies or bassline of the songs come out and with that i make a beat how i feel it should be. I'm not gonna stop don't you worry about it :D

Thanks for the review
The1talianStallion, i'll be checking your audio page sometime during the week. I'm sure you have some good stuff as well.

So nice to hear this music!

I love this music, it sounds so interesting.
It sounds a bit Roman...well good job!
I hope you'll be making something like this again...i dont think there is anything wrong with the sound or anything at all :}

Keep up the great work!

LoneEagle responds:

A bit Roman you say... you just made me think about the game Rygar for ps2. It has some very good music that is a little bit similar to this but much better lol.

I might make some orchestral again, it all depends on how ths songs turn out you know. When i start working on something and i make some basic melodies and all that's when i see what type/genre of music the song will be.

Thanks for the review, i'm glad you liked the song :)
