Okay before awnsering this question. I will give some info of myself so you can help me in a much better fashion.
- I use Flstudio 8
- Plug-ins i use is Nexus, Sytrus and Edirol. I dont use edirol that much but its nice to have it if i want to make a song that has violins in it. :)

The reason i want to make some ambient is because i make DnB and to add a better flavor and quality to my song it would be a good idea to learn something from other gernes. Plus DnB is kinda of a far decedent of ambient and house only it has alot of Drums and Bass.

Also ive been having this problem that all my songs sound the same. So i need more crazy ideas!

So please if you can make a little FLfile with some good examples and the plug-ins. It would be greatly appreciated! Or some good pointers and links would be awsome!

Thanks in advance for your help ;)

Make a pad and play some chords. Usually open sounding chords work better with ambient music. After add a touch of reverb or a maybe delay. Just experiment.

Lots of pads with reverb and delay is the key to ambiance. That's the foundation of ambient music. Like SineRider said, play some chords and find some nice combinations. Also throw in some glass-sounding synth hits in there every 2 bars or something for the fullness. If you're going for an ambient/DnB mix, do that and throw in a good, fastpaced but NOT overpowering drum beat and a smooth subbass pattern. Make the short synth hits vary as the song goes along, some drum breaks and you're pretty much set for a good song.

Of course, this is a pretty straightforward idea. Don't take it all literally, but just try some things out. :-)

Very good advices here! Thanks! I'll try some of your ideas! And the choir and bells sounds hmmm. Good! i'll try something out!

So the key is basicly delays and reverbs and chords.

But what about melody isnt that also important?

I find that when I try to write for specific genres it sounds forced.

With the high BPM of DnB, the pads basically BECOME the melody.

Try something different when making tracks, don't just whack a pad together, play a few chords and call it an ambient track. Try something that sets it apart from other tracks, which is why Boards of Canada are so successful.

Be unique, don't just do what everyone else is doing.

Well your right! But i have to know how the big boys do it and grow from there. If i know atleast the basics of how to make a decent gerne. I can experiment and grow and then become unique from the rest! Also i took some of the advices and came up with this.
