I prefer PSP because I think it has better graphics, more power and more things you can do with it. What's your opinion?

Ds is better in my opinion because it has better games
I have been excpecting you... mr schlong.

It has like 5 hours of battery life but the DS has 7. 10 with the backlight off.
I meant the console's engine, not its battery life.
PSP because you can download games onto it (which the DS can't do), download movies onto it (which the DS can't do),use Internet Radio and you can use Skype on your PSP and you could also get custom themes and you can get as much stuff on their as you want because you can always buy a new memory card (and the DS can't do most of those things).I also agree with what the person that started this topic said. The PSP is a WHOLE lot better than the DS.

HA HA HA! Oh lol!
Oh great a topic started by a dumbass who thinks that the psp is better just because it has more power.
Power isn't everything moron
Xbox live: C0n Queso

People actually buy games for the PSP?
I thought everyone just pirated.

And since when have graphics ever made the game? Just look at Sonic 3D Blast for the Sega Genesis as an example.
more power and more things you can do with it.
With that argument, the Panasonic 3DO should have dominated both the Genesis and the Super Nintendo seeing as how it was more powerful than both of those systems combined. Besides that, the PSP is a rather shoddy and fragile piece of equipment compared to the DS.
I thought this stupid comparison died a long time ago. Oh well, apparently not.

I prefer the Nintendo DS. The only reason is because I just haven't found any games I would play on the PSP that I A) couldn't play on a console or B) any that interest me that much. I know there's some fun and interesting games on the system, but I'm just not too interested in them. I barely play my GBA or DS anymore (on the fact that my DS died), and I usually spend time playing on consoles. I guess the PSP bored me.

But, again that's my opinion. And by the way, power=/=better.

One question: Did you buy your PSP just to enjoy the extra features, or actually PLAY it? DS is WAAAY better when it comes down to what the consoles and handhelds are ABOUT!
Sorry, I just can't get over how my friends think PS3 is better ONLY because it has better graphics.

Believe in yourself. Not in you, who believes in me. Not in me, who believes in you. But believe in you, who believes in yourself!!!
This is an area where I can firmly say that they are both great systems.
The DS has a bigger library, but the gems available on the PSP such as Peace Walker made me get the PSP, but I regularly play the DS. I also am in the PSP CFW scene, so I have that going for me.

Yeah, the PS3 is better because it has more games that don't have a PC port, it has internet and backwards compatibility.
but that's something for a different thread.
Anyway, I think the DS is better because of its large library of games. Many of which are very good, dont crash if you tap the back, and doesn't take forever to load, since they're not discs.
I don't totally hate the PSP though, I like the PSP's design and LittleBigPlanet PSP, even though it's a broken piece of shit, is a better game than all the other shit on the PSP.

That's the sad thing about this generation of games. Everybody wants HD and M-rated games. Nobody ever looks at the quality of the rest of the game, no. Instead, they look at the graphics and stare into the game like a bunch of monkeys. They have little to no regard that a game is more than power and features. I mean, I like the fact that I can watch movies on a game console, but then again, that's what my DVD player is there for. These extra features hide from what makes a game console: the games themselves. Games don't need super-HD graphics to be good, I still to this day play my Nintendo 64, NES, and PlayStation. The difference between good graphics and bad graphics is not if it uses 1080p full HD, but rather if they use the machine's capabilities to render something that's easy on the eye and fits the mood and gameplay of the game.
I know that's a bit off-topic, but here's how it relates to DS vs. PSP: people think the PSP is better because it has a stronger GPU. So what? A console doesn't need a strong GPU to have good graphics. You should look at the games and how their graphics relate to the system's capabilities, not the graphical hardware alone.

While it's true the DS has a huge library of games, if you look at the games however, nearly 80% of the games are considered shovelware. And it seems in the American DS library of games, we got the short end of the stick compared to Japan.
Many of which are very good, dont crash if you tap the back, and doesn't take forever to load, since they're not discs.
The main reason why it takes a long time to load on the PSP is because they have a lot more things on the UMDs than a DS cartrige. As for the crashing thing, I don't really remember ever my PSP crashing when I tapped on the back.

Now this is were I have to disagree here, a lot of the games on the PSP are reviewed higher than DS games, Examples are:
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Resistance: Retrubution
Metal Gear Ac!d 1 and 2
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite etc.
Granted, a large amount of these games are either PS family exclusives or are ports of successful PS2 and PS3 titles, but you seemed to generalized the PSP as a overpowered system with bad games and useless bells and whistles. And yes, I am well aware that the DS has some good games too, just not as many as the PSP IMO.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
i used to play my DS alot till my mum killed the bottom screen by playing using a pencil, and i only play one game on my psp
We're meat and that's it. So lets fuck it, fuck it, fuck it.
Minecraft: JuJitsuLipShitz
DS, since the games are made for the hardware, instead of stuffed on it, Nintendo supports it well, and I really don't care about the graphical difference.
At 5/3/10 08:48 PM, orangebomb wrote: but you seemed to generalized the PSP as a overpowered system with bad games and useless bells and whistles.
That's because it is.
You mentioned four 'good' games there, whereas the DS library has many, many more. Plus a lot of the extra features you mentioned are offset by other features in the newer DSi, or in alternatives such as R4 cards etc.
Also, I might mention the price. There's no way I'd go a PSP when it's cheaper to buy an Xbox 360.
I personally feel the PSP has died down a bit. I never see it or it's games advertised on TV anymore but a shit load of DSi commercials. Even at my local game store the PSP isn't advertised that much. Also the other day I played my friends game on his PSP, no idea what it was called but it was an FPS and FPS's don't really seem to work that well on it. Of course it doesn't on the DS either but I think it's a bit better on the DS IMO.
I used to have a DS before it was stolen. I intend to get a job and buy a DSi XL.
The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug.
Reasons to have PSP
Metal Gear Portable Ops
Metal Gear Peacewalker
Final Fantasy Dissidia
Final Fantasy Crisis Core
Ratchet & Clank Size Matters
Reasons to have DS
Mario Kart
New Super Mario Bros
Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Sonic Chronicles
Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Zelda Spirit Tracks
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Star Fox Command
DS just got a better game libary...

You're pushing me dangerously close to posting two Home Improvement-related pictures in one day.
In any event, I have both a DS and a PSP, but I haven't played either in a long, long time. Regardless, the DS simply has much, much, much, much more software support. I'm trying to think of games I've played on PSP that really match up to the best games found on other consoles (including the DS and past handhelds), and I'm struggling. I mean, I guess Patapon was really fun and unique and all, but still...
I think this would best sums up the difference between the two:
DS has shit games that fanboys love
PSP has shitter games noone loves
/End Thread.
Actually when I had a PSP, I was incredibly impressed, its basically a PS2 on the go, which I thought was a huge leap in technology.
Its also the better one technically because of its multiple media capabilities, Internet, Movies, MP3, Games and among others, which the DS lacks.
But the PSP was marketed as a GAME SYSTEM so obviously, its main focus is playing games, which people bought it for but for some reason Sony insists on advertising its wireless movie and mp3 playing rather than its actual main purpose, games
I still wish I had one, but I think that Sony should do a 360 in the immediately, like they did with the PS3.
When I had one
I still wish I had one
My teacher trolled me, the principle himself said that we could bring electronics, but she takes it anyway.
bitch.
I have a DS. That said, FUCK the DS. Wish I had a PSP.

Not at all..I have them both and I can never decide which one I like better but the Psp has more battery life then the Ds. It's mainly because of the whole Double Screen
You are all forgetting. Who the fuck cares. It's entertainment. If you like Nintendo then get a DS. If you want Good looking games and lots of apps et a PSP. This only goes to support my belief that there should only be one system. So people can just shut up about whats better, and just play fucking videogames.
DS.
Why? Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, huge library, TONS of puzzle games, tons of everyday games like tetris or sudoku, and to me, the DS is a lot more interactive.
I'd much rather walk around playing Mario than some bullshit game for the PSP. Yes, LBP PSP is nice, but can you really compare that to the PS3 version of LBP? Not so much, correct?
As I stated above,
DS.
