Why Do Ppl In Anime Look Like Fish?

Look at those disgusting HUGE EYES and nearly NONEXISTENT noses. Their mouths are just tiny elastic holes to gulp water *Gurgle gurgle* like the fucking fish that they are.

I stopped watching anime when I realized my distorted preschool drawings are truer to life than anime characters.

The one on top looks kinda off but otherwise they're fine.

The Japanese like to overexaggerate.

Their eyes are like too little slits.

And the anime eyes take up like half of the face.

Not all anime uses the same animation style. "Anime" simply refers to animation as a whole. Many animators opt to use a more realistic style of animation, while others prefer to use more exaggerated features when animating. The common misconception about anime is that it all uses the same large-eyed style where characters have exaggerated facial features, expressions, and emotions. This is not the case, as Japanese animation is actually quite diverse, with different animators using different proportions, styles, palettes, and techniques.

As shown in this image, anime varies quite a bit.

It always surprises me that anime is set in Japan. Anime characters look nothing like asian people. I think that maybe the artists are drawing what they wished Japanese people looked like.

I'm pretty sure your eye isn't supposed to be 4x the size of your mouth.

Anime eyes look like fish? I always thought anime eyes looked more like Bambi eyes.

Well, they are generally based off Disney movies back in the 40's and 50's. Hell, if you look at some of the anime from a long time ago, they do look eeriely similar to Disney movies once you get down to the details.

The fish eyes design is considered an inspiration from the past from anime and manga artists, and that's why they do continue to make their eyes like that, plus they're generally so damn cute as well.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Cuteness can only get you so far if you have an uninteresting story. But majority fans of anime are chicks so you may be right.

Touhou is truly an example of a female majority. I don't know about story because this is a bullet hell series and I have no way to access it... And yes, they are all pretty much designed to be cute.

...and now I am regretting posting a pic of Cirno next to Bambi. Her cuteness is so great that it can corrupt people's minds. I apol9gize.

Fun fact: Donald Duck inspired Osamu Tezuka who is considered The Godfather of Anime. Which is where the whole big eye thing came from. Also, Arina Tanemura for the win.
