Wierd family guy episode?

Have you guys ever seen this episode called "Seahorse Seashell Party" of family guy? Its in season 10. Its the episode where brian does shrooms and has a horrible trip. This episode wasnt at all funny, just kinda depressing. Like I swear, there was no funny parts to it. Its kinda wierd to me because family guy is SUPPOST to be funny. And shrooms are nothing like that judging from my expierience.

The episode was not supposed to be funny. The episode was made pretty much for explaining why Meg is abused for the whole series. It was never intended to be funny in the first place.

I didn't know there was a "normal" episode out there.

There was also the abuse episode involving Quagmire's sister that had little to no funny parts in it. And when Brian and Stewie were locked in the bank vault together. It's a nice way to tie things up I guess, but I still want some comedy.

There are actually a couple unfunny/depressing episodes of Family Guy.
Like the one where Stewie and Brian got locked in a safe.

Like, who was that for?

The one where everyone discovered that Brian was atheist (because that's such a big shocker coming from a guy like him) wasn't funny, even if you have a religion-bashing sense of humor, the writers didn't even try to make it funny.
Then there was the one where Bonnie went to France to have an affair with Joe, the one when they found out Kevin slipped out of the military. All the Joe episodes are just awful really.

My guess is that McFarlene or whoever's in charge of the series just doesn't care anymore and is just greenlighting the worst pitches because any piece of shit episode could get high ratings.

Yeah, there was also that And Then There Were None parody. It was really trying to be a flat out clone of that book, rather than an actual humorous episode. They killed like 3 people for nothing more than a suspenseful emotion, which might've been good for a series like The Walking Dead or something, but this is Family Guy, not a drama. I thought it was meant to make you laugh.

Not every episode of Family Guy has to be funny.

No matter what point they're trying to make, if they're gonna call their show a comedy, of course every episode is gonna have to be funny.

That episode when there locked up was wierd too, like even at the end when the credits came on there was no music or anything.

These characters are not three dimensional enough, or even interesting enough to do drama with. Macfarlane and the writers need to get that through their thick fucking heads.

I wonder why Sath Macaroni doesn't just start every other episode with "And now for a very special episode of Family Guy..."

That line was funnier than Family Guy.

That was one of the weirdest family guy episodes ever

Every new episode of Family Guy I see is uncomfortable and unfunny to watch.

Except for that one episode where Stewie and Brian go back to the past, somehow that episode was good. At least for Family Guy standards anyway. I enjoyed watching it, it had some funny parts.

So Family guy is becoming more of a dramady in there recent direction, I want to check those specific episodes you're all talking about since I've not watched it for nearly 2 years now.

I"m surprised i never actually seen that one, kinda reminds me of when Homer Simpson started tripping off of those peppers; but his trip was comical

It was one of the few newer episodes that was good.
Actually family guy was never REALLY funny or good, but this style would be something new. Depressing, psychedelic and a bit "scary". I enjoyed the episode in it's entirety.

MacFarlane knows Familyguy is a horrible show now, and he is trying to loose viewers. Especially those like you OP.

I haven't seen the entire episode, but I think I have seen the online clip where this happens. I think it's the one where Brian takes the shrooms and goes insane and he sees like Peter being roasted over a spit and then he turns into a million Brians that get eaten by an eagle or something and he sees Lois as a naked woman turning into a snake? I admit that was probably the best animation the show has ever had, and even if it made little sense, I at least have to give it credit for that.

I think they made that episode like that to discourage drug use. I heard Family Guy got into a little bit of trouble around that time for supposedly promoting drugs. So that episode was to attempt to like I said, discourage drug use.

That's just what I heard.

PS They're ALL weird.

returning from 8 years hiatus haha so maybe renovating a little :>

I think "Family Guy"'s the most hated cartoon out there. "South Park" made fun of it and they recieved calls from people at "The Simpsons" and "King Of The Hill" saying they hate FG even more than SP does. There's also John K., although he hates every modern cartoon that isn't his own. There was also this guy who made a comic called Jimmy Corrigan who accused Seth MacFarlane of ripping off his character. FG's probably hated by more artists than any other cartoon.

I am just really annoyed at how Seth Macfarlane wallows in his own lack of creativity, and laughs all the way to the bank because of it.

He made the same show three times. Now he has this movie about a talking teddy bear coming out, that looks like an extended Family Guy cutaway that shows what would happen if Peter turned into a bear.

They did shot-for-shot parodies of the Star Wars movies, for god's sake. That was old hat in the fucking eighties!

That sounds pretty weird, I think it might be one of those ghost episodes like that depressing grimdark episode of the smipsons where bart dies that many report having seen on regular TV but which broadcasters and producers claim never to have produced or aired.
