Our voter of the month and winner of an honorary Supporter Upgrade is @Phenom9.

Thank you everyone who participated in December! We ended 2016 with a strong finish and we're pumped for 2017. There has already been a lot of great animation, games, music and art this year and we aren't even halfway through January.

The site itself is much better than it was this time last year and a lot of that is thanks to our supporters, who are creating a way forward that doesn't involve tacking more ads on pages to pay the bills.

Speaking of bills, our monthly hosting increased over the course of last year and we're now better reflecting that in our hosting goal, raising it to $5k. Our expenses don't end with just hosting fees, so your support is greatly appreciated. The goal will always get moved forward, we're just excited for it to go well beyond hosting and staff!

NG currently has 1,662 active supporters and the number continues to rise. As support grows, NG will have less obtrusive advertising AND more money to spend on revenue share, prizes and sponsorships. Please consider becoming a supporter today!

After years and years I finally rightfully won it. Thanks for it. It's not the only giveaway/draft I win recently either...

Hey Tom, what about doing a fund-raising drive for NG similar to AGDQ? I know they're all about charity, but we could do some pretty sweet speed running or glitch highlighting using games from NG history... or just doing playthroughs and having mini-goals during a 5 day 24/7 stream... there could be guest visitors from game/movie creators... or donation goals that unlock visits from people like Happy Harry or Krinkels or Luis or Swain or whoever... YOU could be the final unlock if we reached the overall goal... or show off some secret project or something... it might be a fun nostalgia-filled romp. Sure, it'd start small, maybe a $2,500 goal during the week, but it could become a yearly event and grow each time!

I second the idea. A fundraising night of playthroughs on Twitch, or a fundraising roadshow of sorts, these are the ideas which come to mind. And what if, during the meetup we actually did a fundraising event and got people interested in NG?

Britain's side of the fundraising event will have the memory of Edd Gould, if nothing else, to make people aware of what sort of talent they will be promoting in these fundraisers.

Something like that would be cool although the logistics of running it for a week make me scared. If that were streamed on Twitch, I suppose we could swap out who is streaming to our channel at any given time, so it could go from one person to the next throughout the event... Everyone could have the channel login details and their time slot set up ahead of time... hmm

You know, now that you mention it, does Newgrounds even have a Twitch channel? I'm not really into Twitch, so I wouldn't know, but having a dedicated channel for people to broadcast on or upload plays could be a good way to generate revenue, now that you mention it, especially since Twitch is becoming more popular with gamers than YT, who have blacklisted us. Also, do we have... a Patreon? Would that even be legal? That might also be worth looking into.

We do have a Twitch channel but we mostly just use it for Pico Day and strangely enough I can't find it on Twitch now that I'm looking - I gotta dig up my login info at the office when I get in. Before that we actually had set up our own streaming server but that got ditched when we were consolidating our hardware to pay for less rack space (before moving to managed hosting).

NG doesn't have a Patreon. It's been considered for a while now since there are Patreon regulars who would probably support us on there despite not being supporters here on NG. The issue is we would then have to manage a unique set of perks on Patreon - I like the supporter system because we can build all the perks right into your NG account and it would be kinda weird to manage two different groups of supporters like that. One thing that has been considered is a Patreon with a very specific set of goals - like the Patreon money goes 100% to content sponsorship or original content creation, and the perk would be getting your name in the credits of that content. So that is still tempting to try.

Didn't the Twitch get banned while streaming on Pico day

Yeah but I think that was a temporary ban.

Oh and our Twitch channel is actually me: https://www.twitch.tv/tomfulp

I remember what happened - the Newgrounds account was under Justin.tv. There was a window of time where you could migrate your account to Twitch but I never did, then they shut down Justin.tv and it put the NG name in limbo where I couldn't re-register it and couldn't access the old account: https://www.twitch.tv/newgrounds

With services like Twitch available, it may prove a profitable venture for all to somehow enable our users here to do let's plays of old classics, even. Though that might prove a little complex.

That sounds like it would be a lot easier to manage than more complicated perks, and in general sounds like a good idea. There may even be people who just don't feel like they should have a NG account because they feel they have nothing to contribute to the site, yet who would be fine donating on Patreon.

If we did end up doing this, I would like to do a playthrough of Abobo's Big Adventure with me, @Poxpower, and @mockery on the stream at the same time commentating on the game. We've always meant to do that, but never actually gotten it done...

I'd watch this for sure...the feedback Fridays stream we had back in the day was really neat, and the audience was slowly building..
Also could patron be a payment option for the supporter subscription?
