FIRST OF ALL: WHAT IS THE FLOOD?!

The Friday Flood is a community activity where artists submit art to the Art Portal at the same time, all using the same Thumbnail so that the front page of the portal is FLOODED with the same image. It used to be an art forum activity, but it has now been reawakened in the form of an ART CONTEST!

This Flood's theme is Dinosaurs.

Theme Tag: FRIDAYFLOODDINO

The Submission day is Friday January 11th at or as close as you possibly can get to 4:00pm Newgrounds time. (GMT -4)

PRIZES!

$10 to the winner

$5 to each of the two runner-ups

Payable through paypal, or Venmo

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND RULES

• Put the provided Friday Flood thumbnail in your drawing somewhere - it does not need to be incorporated seamlessly into the piece.
• Upload your submission ON the submission day, as close to the specified time as you can
• Make sure that the thumbnail is the provided image.
• Tag your submissions in the art portal with FRIDAYFLOOD and FRIDAYFLOODDINO.
• NSFW IS allowed, but keep it in the reins of the 'M' rating rather than 'A' for maximum flood coverage.
• The theme is as interpretive or as literal as you want it to be, so go as crazy with it as you'd like to!

The Judges of this Flood Competition will be:

Deliberation will take place over the weekend of the flood and winners will be announced in the next Flood's introduction thread.

first of all, how will flooding it with nearly identical thumbnails be any different than what it already looks like?

second of all, you can upload a seperate thumbnail image now so the thumbnail doesn't have to actually be in the piece.

This seems pretty interesting, but I have a few questions.

1. How do I put the provided image as the thumbnail?

And

2. Since people are in different time zones, does that mean that they have to submit their artwork at a different time?

In the past (like this example) the thumbnail would be placed somewhere in the submission - either in the corner or integrated.

Although sheepwave says that’s no longer the case, and we can let upload the thumbnail separately.

You can remove the thumbnail later on, but for the purposes of the flood it’s more impressive/confusing to see the art portal page covered in the same thumbnail.

Yes. Like Jack says in the opening post it would be ideal to submit your pics all at the same global time (4pm NG time, which is 8pm ALMIGHTY BRITANNIA GOD SAVE THE QUEEN time), so that the submissions flood the page!

This may not be ideal to your circumstances, so we’d be understanding if you submit your pic 2 hours earlier or later so that you can have a drink with your friends. It’s just not effective if you submit the pic a week early.

Also just realised the art portal’s 10th birthday is in June this year. That’s one theme to consider in the future.
