NGUAC 2019 Tryouts Jun 24, 2019

Welcome to the 2019 Newgrounds Underdogs’ Audio Contest, the 6th rendition of an annual music competition on the site.

Cool! So I should post a Bandcamp link to an album full of tracks, right?

Um...no. Just link the (one) (Newgrounds) piece you want the judges to consider in this thread. For this round, it can be something you wrote years ago, or you can make it from scratch specifically for the competition. You can also change the piece you’d like us to judge before the deadline by posting it here.

Deadline, you say?

Yes. You have until 23:59 (11:59 p.m.) Eastern Daylight Time on July 14th, 2019 to enter the competition.

Okay. Then what?

Immediately after the tryout submission phase, the participants will be grouped evenly based on their fan totals, and about half of them will be accepted into the next round. Participants won’t directly compete outside of their groups until the Final Round. There are 3 rounds over the course of about 2 months.

What’s in it for me?

Prizes will include forum signatures for the top 3 finishers boasting of their success in the competition, as well as spots on the front page of the Audio Portal the week after the competition. You can also expect to improve your music, meet a lot of awesome people, and gain some more exposure on the site.

So...you decide the winner with one big Satanic ritual?

No, but each judge uses their own separate Satanic ritual to score the submissions. @Bosa, @EndKMusic, and myself have joined the judging team so far. We’re still looking for judges, so please PM me if you’d like to nominate one.

Nice! So I can just upload a recording of gorillas from YouTube as my submission, right?

Hahaha...not even close. PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE LIST OF RULES that couldn’t fit in this forum post. When in doubt, ask for clarification in this thread or via PM.

But above all, remember to have a ton of fun! May the competition begin.

Are you entering the competition as a team? You mention Thiago Rossellini's role in the project in the description. How many people were involved in creating this project?

Generally, remixes are allowed, yes, but the fact that you used vocal stems from the original artist is probably a violation of the NG audio guidelines. I'd suggest choosing another piece, please.

Personally, I think the discussion/submission thread dichotomy is kinda unnecessary and ultimately hard to enforce. Keeping the contest in one place as much as possible is just easier for everyone and less confusing for newbies.

We just blew past 25 submissions, btw! ^^
