This year’s Art Inspired Music Contest is finally drawing to a close. That’s right, people, the results are finally here. Let out that breath you’ve been holding for months now, and take another one as you scroll your way through these lists.

THE TOP 3

Arright here we go:

First Place

Sometimes, the best entries have the longest titles. And these titles are so long that even Newgrounds won’t let you see the whole title. I had to look at the page source for the website to copy this title, but it was all worth it because this entry is top notch:

sursum=corda.EXFLOW_cls.PANDAEMONIUM::STORMFALL/. by @Troisnyx

Second Place

In second place, we’ve got an orchestral entry that will take you on an adventure. An RPG adventure, to be exact.

Timeless Adventure by @Everratic

Third Place

It’s cinematic, it dares to explore, but most importantly, it’s the entry that most of the judges agreed matches the artwork in which it was inspired by really well.

The Mountain by @SirQuebi

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

These entries also made it onto the compilation album (and other prizes, will be listed after). In no particular order:

Zig’s Melody by @RaceTTar

Echoes Through the Stars by @CANDYdisturber

Moon Waker by @MintyFreshThoughts

WTFTW by @BryceSummer

Nuclear Aftermath by @Zophar

The Dark by @BeforeDestruction

A Dreadful Space Journey by @JordanKyser

Decagon Isolation by @TheDoubleOne

Life Views by @arbelamram

Among Stars (Luka) by @MrSmash64

Deep Space by @satanicpotatoe

Fuck Yeah! by @MrSmash64

Against the World by @Seprix

Moebius Portrait II by @Aydin-Jewelz123

Meowing Directly Into a Cauldron by @GentWalrus

Hourglass by @MintyFreshThoughts

SuperNova by @Teckmo-X

FAN FAVOURITE

Not that many people voted in the fan favourites thread. :( But most people who did picked entries that would have been on the album regardless. There is, however, exactly one entry that did get picked that wasn’t going to be on the album, so I will give this entry the “fan favourite” prize. And that entry is:

Immersion by @5TanLey

------

Prizes

If you are one of the winners mentioned above, congratulations! Please contact @I0TA and @Ninjamuffin99 to claim your prizes from the prize pool. First place gets first pick, followed by second place and then third and then finally, the honourable mentions will get to pick on a first come, first serve basis. I think this is what’s normally done, but just putting that out there for clarification for those who don’t know.

Along with the prize pool, winners get a spot on the AIM 2019 compilation album, and also an 8 GB custom AIM 2019 flash drive that contains 2-3 sample libraries as well as the AIM 2019 album!

The top three receive Versillian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2 Pro, and of course, the above prizes.

As for the other prizes, @SplatterDash will contact you about how to get them.

Thanks for participating! Here’s to many more great future AIMs.

I had to cut so much out of that post because I didn't realize Newgrounds had such a stringent character limit. :(

Acknowledgements

I want to take a moment to thank:

  • @RealFaction for trusting me with running this contest almost immediately after I said I would do it, and for answering the enormous pile of questions I sent about how to run this contest exactly.
  • @SplatterDash for informing me that this contest needed an organizer in the first place, and for suggesting me for it. SplatterDash has been incredibly helpful with working out the prize aspect of this compo, which honestly was the part I had the most difficulty putting together. By the way, there are some changes to the prizes since my original post on the submissions thread, so be sure to check out SplatterDash’s post on some of the updates to that list.
  • @I0TA and @Ninjamuffin99 for their contributions to the prize pool.
  • this year’s contest judges: @Quarl, @JessieYun and @Ectisity. Thank you for volunteering to judge and taking the time to listen and evaluate all these entries.
  • Frostyflytrap, for doing the promo art and art for the USB prizes.
  • Every participant. That’s right; every participant. You know, for participating. Without you all, the submissions thread would have literally been just another thread in the Audio Forums, but now, it’s another thread with a lot of really good music in it, so thank you for that. Also thank you for your patience as I was running this contest.

I think that should be everyone...if I missed an acknowledgement, I’ll blame it on lack of sleep, probably…

Here’s the prize pool again (Although this list may have been updated since it was last posted. Contact the prizeholders about this, as I’m not certain of the details.):

I give the biggest congratulations to all who topped the great Top 20 among 46 contestants. This contest was pretty hard for me, and I had to switch a lot of participants' places during the judging, but eventually, with this mighty scoreboard, I eventually and perfectly sliced into 20, who scored above 11 points. Among the participants who scored 10.5, there are two honorable people who were pressed with "golden buzzer" and to be listed in one of my 20 people (so it's 22 eventually). The reason these people didn't made into 11 points are either it lacked in connection with the artwork and music but was very good in music itself, or needed to work on minor fixes on composition/mixing to raise 0.5 points.

Here's the full scoreboard.

iu_38934_5435639.jpg

I mainly based my scores on music itself, and how you designed it to be ear-perking and interesting to the listeners, ALONGSIDE with how the artwork connects to your music. The first impression when I first clicked on your track is also one of the main potential factors in the music score, which is very important for your new listeners who will listen to your future tracks. About the comments section, I'm sorry I didn't wrote it for all contestants, and you would feel my comments are pretty straightforward, but that was my personal first impression on your track. Take it as a grain of salt, please don't take your comments personally.

Like I mentioned in the Discussion Thread, please PM me (with a link to your music) if you want an in-depth review for you. I will do my best to write it for you both in response to your PM and your music itself.

And lastly, I would like to hugely thank @Random-storykeeper for letting me join in the judge crew, it was an honor and I had such a good opportunity to listen to various tracks in different genres. And most of the people quite impressed me, in terms of effort and enthusiasm. Again, congratulations all, and don't stop making music.

Oh snap the results are in! Congratulations to everyone :).

I really enjoyed taking part in this contest! And I'm honored to be an honorable mention :D.

Looking at that spreadsheet, it seems the competition was fierce!

I have one question: I have tweaked my track a little bit based on the feedback I've gotten (but I have not yet uploaded the updated version to NG (or anywhere))... Should I submit the updated version for inclusion into the compilation album?

Thanks for hosting this contest, it was a lot of fun!

Response to AIM 2019 Results Thread 2019-07-11 14:33:37

Congrats to all of the winners! I listened to all of the pieces, and there was so much good music this competition. :D

There is one mistake I need to clarify, and I take the blame for this, as I did not specify this to RSK: the drive can fit 2-3 sample libraries (it's an 8GB drive), but as no other sponsors came back to me; therefore, only the album will be on the drives for the Runner-Ups and fan favorite, with the addition of VSCO 2 Pro for top three. Once the drive details have been completed (not too long from now), I will contact the winners to send the drives their way.

Speaking of the drives, a HUGE thank you goes out to Versilian Studios for sponsoring this year's AIM! They have a variety of libraries for you to purchase, including a Marimba library, Etherealwinds Harp II, and an amazing Broken Piano library. Their crown jewel, though, is VSCO 2, which the top three are receiving (they will recieve the Professional edition). The range of instruments are massive, and there's multiple of each sustaining instrument for you to choose from. From violins to church organs, Native American flutes to blown bottles, even anvils and tenorhorns, this Kontact instrument is the perfect orchestra must-have for your library. You can check out Versillian Studios here - http://www.versilstudios.com/

Huge thank you to all who participated this year! The album will be distributed ASAP - there will be a new way we will distribute it this year, stay tuned!

hi, I do things that make sounds and put them on this site, you can check out my stuff if you want.

Yeah, I think that should be fine. You can update your track or send it my way if you don't want to upload it. I'll be downloading all the winning entries soon so I can start putting together the album.

Okay, I'll just upload it now then -- I didn't want to update/change it while the contest was running :) thanks!

EDIT: I've just uploaded the modified version :) (it has some minor tweaks, most notably to the Piano sound)

Congratulations to the winners and everyone on the album, I legit didn't know who would make it this year and I had a fair few contenders for the top spots in my mind.

CONTACT ME VIA PM IF YOU WANT A REVIEW.

I have something to say about everything in this contest but won't take the initiative unless I'm guilt tripped. I've entered this comp a few times myself and I loved getting the opportunity to participate in it one more time. You all had great tracks, despite any of the results. Give yourselves the encouragement you needs.

I have to make an important announcement: one of the runner-ups is disqualified.

I didn't realize it until I was sorting through the entries to be put on the album that one of them was uploaded in 2018. When I was first checking through the submissions to see if they qualified, I was checking for some of the other rules (3-6 minute range, art piece under "A" rating, participant has been scouted), but one thing I didn't check for was whether the entry was done within the submission period. It completely slipped my mind, and I'm sorry for messing up. If I am to ever run this contest again, I will pay closer attention to the upload date.

"Zig's Melody" by @RaceTTar has been disqualified from the contest. In its place, I am going to put another entry that were part of the judges' picks, but was cut from the final album. And that entry is:

Dimensions by @Teckmo-X

@I0TA @Ninjamuffin99 @SplatterDash - please read the above in regards to the changes. It shouldn't really affect the prizes, since Teckmo-X already has an entry in the album, but RaceTTar is now a disqualified participant due to submitting an entry outside of the submission period.

Again, I'm sorry for not paying close attention earlier.

Yes, @SplatterDash will be in contact with you (plus all the winners/runner-ups) regarding the redemption of the USB prize. You'll have to message @Ninjamuffin99 or @I0TA if you want to redeem the prize pool games, though.
