Logan Whitehurst Documentary
@littlbox has launched a Kickstarter for a documentary about Logan Whitehurst, a musician who had early Internet success before leaving this world too soon. Take a moment to enjoy his songs and consider supporting the film!
Two of these videos are in their original Flash format and working thanks to Ruffle, the open-source Flash emulator created by @Mike! If you enjoy Flash preservation, consider becoming a Ruffle sponsor as well.
Pixel Day Winners
January 23rd was our fifth annual Pixel Day on Newgrounds, a celebration of pixel art and chiptunes! We’re awarding $100 prizes to the best art, animation, game and music.
Best Art
@Luis animated numerous pixel loops in recent years, his talents culminating with this infectious breakdancing gif. A good reminder for all of us to Never Give Up! Even observed as a single frame, this piece captures both the vibe of ‘80s hip hop culture and the spirit of Newgrounds.
Best Animation
@gatekid3 turned away from Radishes this year and delivered an opulent ode to gaming, with references ranging from Sonic and Mario to modern classics like Celeste and Shovel Knight. Lots of eye candy to catch in this one!
Best Game
The wizard is bouncy, the puzzles brain-bending and overall game feel is rock solid. All this PLUS fantastic music has proven once again that @mmattugh and @connorgrail make a killer game dev duo.
Best Music
An immediate call to action, Run! Run! by @KawaiSprite was the de-facto Pixel Day anthem here at the office. Capcom could totally build a Mega Man level around this song.
Thank you everyone who participated! Also thank you @RealFaction, @PhantomArcade and @IvanAlmighty for judging assistance.
Be sure to browse all the art, animation, game and music entries this weekend; there are lots of great works to enjoy!
If you like shooters, TRACTRON 2020 is one for you (don't sleep on that 'X' key tractor beam):
