If you missed it, I posted last week about black lives, protests and the future of policing. I encourage everyone to take time to listen and read about everything that is happening. If you’re fixated on conspiracy theories at the moment, here’s an interesting thread to consider

The people seeking change are real and they are putting forth interesting ideas; take it in with an open mind. Consider the Strong Opinions, Weakly Held framework, where you remain open to information that challenges long-held beliefs.

@VoicesByCorey is organizing a Voice Actor Collab to showcase voice actors and writers.

The Musk Animation Jam prize pool is currently at $5,410 and even 11th place can snag $100.

@3p0ch has created a MetaGame Collab Interface Prototype, which could allow multiple devs to make a game together even with each of them using different frameworks like Phaser, HaxeFlixel, Godot, and Unity. It’s a cool concept!

The voter of the month and winner of honorary Supporter status is @TTRM!

I’ve been keeping up my monthly music playlist tradition with a May Mix Part 1 and Part 2. @littlbox has also created a littlMix for May for your listening pleasure.

For some of the best art from May, I recommend browsing May’s featured art, ranked by score.

I also made a post a few weeks ago highlighting a bunch of cool artists.

Thank you everyone who participated in May! We’ve been seeing so much great stuff in recent months and I’m sure it has brightened a lot of days as COVID lingers on. Stay safe out there.

Thank you for the plug Tom! :D I’m loving the direction this collab is heading. I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

You need a voice? I got plenty for ya! :D

The voice acting collab is going to be really good. Just the scripts that are being voiced now are making me laugh super hard. We have a couple more coming in and a bunch of projects that I haven't had the time to listen to yet.

It's also going to be a crazy good resource for animators to animate off of. It in itself could be an animation Jam! At the very least it's going to get a lot of good voice actors in touch with animators who might not have branched out to them before.

Thanks for the shout-out Tom!

If any devs would like to collab to make a meta-game of interacting games then drop me a line in this thread. Imagine along the lines of running around in a metroidvania game to muster troops for a war, while issuing orders in a strategic war sim game to open new metroidvania areas, reaching a spaceship to fly around in a flight sim while strafing enemies from the war sim and entering new metroidvania zones, with bossfights taking place in an FPS shooter game. Bring whatever genre you like to the table.

Thank you for linking that thread. I've been struggling to comprehend the fervor with which a number of these conspiracy theories have been shared and believed, and Jared Yates Sexton has now given me a lot of history to look into.

Another nice month for games as usual! After last month's absolute flood of 50~ games, we're back to the more usual, and more manageable amount of around 30~ (though there certainly wasn't anything wrong with seeing a lot of great games being made during a tough time). I had fun quizzing myself to see how many references I could recognize in the PICOLLAGE: did better than I thought I would, but I still gotta long way to go in familiarizing myself with all the new works on here!

Thank you!

Hey I voted for 4 of those winners. The voice actor collab and that Metagame thing look super neat. Good month, folks.

That thread was a good read, it's been shocking lately to see the intense hate going around, but amazing seeing long standing racist shit get debunked and generally being armed with real knowledge and history has been satisfying.

I almost regret making that voting cartoon, but it still makes me lol. Maybe I should do another to balance it out.

Anyway, congrats to the winners! Seeing even MORE mazing art on a daily basis has been the highlight of my quarantine.

I guess I did.

Yes, I did receive a notification, but I didn't notice it.

Only happened upon it by accident just now, when temporarilly disabling a custom layout-filter.

(I find the behaviour of that bar at the top (the one that shows notifications, messages, etc...) a bit annoying (interferes with visibility of the page's content when adjusting the scroll to fit some submissions' sizes into the window), so I blocked the element.)

TL:DR

Yeah, I missed it.

Ah, so you don't usually get notifications at all... interesting way to circumvent layout behavior. I've never had a problem with that icon myself, guess we might use somewhat different resolutions/devices/something.

TL:DR
Yeah, I missed it.

Seems like my post served some purpose then. :) GTK!

Let's just say that I preferred the old design, where the top bar STAYED at the top, rather than dropping down to your position when you scroll upwards to see the line just offscreen above.

(I know... it's a petty thing. Still a thing though.)

Aah right, that thing. It does get in the way occasionally, or disappear at inopportune moments. I guess you just learn to work around it after a while; think less of it.

(I know... it's a petty thing. Still a thing though.)

Yupp.
