Good day, shitposters. Or good night if that happens to be the way of things down your way. As you may know, our valued moderator Fro is on vacation, for reasons unbeknownst to us, and for an unspecified amount of time.
In that unspecified amount of time me and a couple of others have gotten it into our heads that it would be a good idea to make something to greet him upon his return, and so we have agreed on the following mission statement, partially because we don't know how long he'll be away, and partially since, on account of his hosting the writing competitions elsewhere, it seemed rather fitting:
Write and illustrate a Fro fanfiction
(and maybe create an audio version of that fanfiction)
And that's where you all come in, since ideally we want to include as many forum regulars in the project as possible. What will be required should you choose to join? Simple: You either write, illustrate, or contribute to an audio version, whether that last one be in the form of voice or music. That's fairly obvious, I would think.
So what are the rules for each facet of this project? Let's go down the list:
Writing:
First, between those who wish to participate we'll establish a basic plot outline in this thread, since settling that sort of thing over DMs is a headache if you have more than 2 people. Then, we'll establish a writing order and an average word count, something like 100-200 words, to play a game of literary hot potato. One person will write that many words, and pass it on to the next person in the order, who will write that many words, and so on, until we hit some sort of natural end point, or, if the will of the people dictates so, until we hit an arbitrary total word limit.
As far as general conduct goes with this:
-Be a good sport in this exercise, meaning follow the "yes, and" rule of improvisation, trying not to immediately shut down anything the people before you introduce, unless the people before you introduce something that you would violate the next rule by expanding upon.
-Don't be a creep.
Illustrating:
Once whatever hot garbage we produce is finished, we will send it to any volunteers, to pick a scene to illustrate as they wish. Since the story is almost definitely going to take the form of one lengthy shitpost, I would just like to emphasise that all levels of artistic ability are welcome here. The rule about not being a creep also applies here, but at this point I'm sure you could've figured that out.
Audio contributions:
The exact distribution of who does what when it comes to the audio version of this is going to depend on what we end up writing, but the one thing that's almost assured is that if we go through with it we'll need a narrator, so that means at least one vocal role. If you end up with a role don't feel obligated to go and grab a better microphone or anything, but if you're able, try and find a fairly well-isolated recording environment. I've found the wardrobe works.
As for music contributions, if you want to make anything for this, I will be impressed, is all I'm saying. If you read the text and think to yourself "hey, I've already made something that fits this scene" then by all means mention this and we'll try to sneak it in there.
Don't want to forestall getting to work on this concept forever so if you want to contribute to the writing portion, respond to this thread within the next day or so, during which time we'll also be settling the details I mentioned earlier. Beyond that point, don't respond to this thread, since we want to try and keep things something of a surprise and we don't know when Fro comes back. If you come into the project for a writing position later than that, DM me and I'm sure we can figure something out. I'll try not to be too slow in responding. Unless I'm asleep. Speaking of, as I post this, I am about to go to sleep, so you have fun while I'm out.
