I recommend the Fossil Fighters series except for the third game. They're really fun and if you like pokemon, you might like them too.
Seeing as how both Kirby Super Star Ultra and Sonic Rush have been recommended, may I then suggest Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions?
A licensed port of a console game doesn't seem like it'd be that good, but Shattered Dimensions on DS is actually a really solid Metroidvania type game.

I think it's probably because nintendo will allow almost any sort of stuff to be shoved on their consoles. I've even seen some hentai games on the e shop before.

I immensely enjoyed Master of the Monster Lair, and it's sequel / spiritual sequel My World, My Way. The former was about constructing your own dungeons to bait in monsters for you to destroy, the latter was about constructing dungeons for a princess to have a fake heroes journey through.
They could both use a decent PC port.
I will tell you that cory in the house on DS is a masterpiece, but Mario Kart DS is truly a classic

Nobody should say OOT yet, the OP here has a DS Lite, not a 3DS. Though imo it is the best version of the game.
New Super Mario Bros is the best Mario side scroller on this side of the year 2000. Pokemon also had a strong showing on the DS. Specifically Heartgold, and you should play Black 2 if you find that you enjoyed Black.
