Hello! New guy in the new grounds

Hello everybody! My name's Yolk (pretend my username is YolkBytePNG pls I need 2 pay 2.99 doler) and I joined NewGrounds at the beginning of this year and was lucky to get scouted but school was kicking me in the butt and I had to stop of a good long while.

So for all intents and porpoises, I'm new!

Now that we are deep into summer I've decided I wwnat to be more involved in the grounds the new grounds so if anyone wants to show me how things work around here and also maybe even wants a new art friendo then I'm all for it!

I'm just hoping to see what NewGrounds has to offer (again lol I guess) and ya know

How newgrounds works for me: I post on the art forum and it somewhat compells me to draw, because otherwise people really wouldnt be seeing my art.

Its like drawing and then showing it to somoene. And also understanding that its more of a place to put my art.

If you wanna post in the forum, you could always make an art thread. That one you just posted is great btw, I love the strokes.

haha : ))) somewhat! I usually just draw and then get extra excited when halfway through i decide ill post it.

posting is comforting too. its like filing it away

haha thank you so much for the kind word I really put a lot of effort into that one and yeah I’ve noticed art can get a little lost on the portal, so if I were to make a thread for my art would it simply need to be called something like ‘my recent art’ and people would be fine with it? It seems kinda selfish but maybe that’s just me

Have you introduced yourself in the New User Introduction Thread yet? You might get a shoutout in the Tank Tribune for it!

If you’d like to make artwork for others, why not put yourself up in the Collabinator? It’s basically a way to advertise yourself for requests, trades, etc!

Don’t make a new Art Forum thread saying you’ll draw people’s OCs, or asking people to draw yours; we’ve had a huge influx of those recently, and people were getting sick of them popping up everywhere and of the same people replying to all of them. All OC related art requests/offerings are therefore now contained within the OC Plaza thread.

Your art looks great, by the way! I love the lighting!

No I have not introduced myself in the new user thread I didn't even know that existed lol I hope it's not too late I DID join on January ofter all

The collaborator sounds fun! I've mean meaning to try it but maybe only one of those simple ones were they just draw a buch of characters with a common theme rather than those deeper game dev and comic projects I seem to find since those are very daunting.

And the OC Plaza I saw that and it also seems super cool!

I think PilotSpikey answered this, but basically you can name it anything. The standard is something like "[Your name]'s Art Thread" but there are people who vainly attempt to go against the mainstream and name it something quirky. Like me. It may be cringe... but I got them to click, didn't I?

Art threads are cool coz when they pile up to something like 15 pages or so you can really see the progress. I think that's what makes them more appealing than just portal art posts. It becomes something of a journal.
