I rarely did homework or studied back in school and yet I still graduated all the way to the very end of highschool. Like mostly Cs and Ds.
Point is was ANY of that even worth it? I mean even if I did get good grades all those years ago I doubt would end up any different.
School is mainly about attendance.
And not to any benefit if the student.
If the system can prove you are there.
It means more funding for the school and and staff.
I'm not sure really. I'm going to 8th and I mean it matters if you wanna go to the next grade but on the job? I dunno

I had all the credits I needed to graduate highschool before even starting my senior year.
(I did summer school to get ahead every year)
Much to my dismay, I couldn't graduate early because I still had to take two required courses.
I had even applied for colleges and everything.
I basically got ripped off of an early graduation.
So I just fucked around my senior year. Never did any schoolwork for anything but the two required courses... and even in those classes I needed to pass... i calculated it perfectly to just put in the bare minimum effort needed.
My GPA was a .776 when I graduated.
Even though I had applied to two colleges and was accepted, my gf at the time ended up going to to Purdue University Lafayette, a college I did not apply for.
So, I applied to Purdue University Calumet (community college) and figured I'd just transfer next semester.
...and Purdue Calumet honestly did not give two shits about the GPA I had when I graduated.

i mostly worked hard on getting good grades because my work ethic on them was pretty much the most productive i would be doing for a while so i did it. its also cause of my parents expectations on my grades (like even a B grade they jokingly would say "wheres the A for this one?") and that i also kinda wanted to do some of the assignments themselves. if school taught me shit then you best believe i worked my ass off to make somethng useful out of it, whether its assigning to life skill classes based around renting or buying homes or straight up just asking my geology teacher a few times to talk about the stock market and how it works

Nobody gives a shit whether you were in honors classes or not. AP classes do count towards some college credits though.

Some jobs (e.g. investment banking) have minimum GPA requirements for recruitment purposes.
Other positions may not be explicit GPA requirements but sometimes they do look at your grades, especially if you don't have relevant work experience and you should be prepared to explain it in interviews if you have poor grades.

After graduating high school, I had to take entrance exams regardless so I would say it didn't really matter too much what grades I got, as long as I knew enough to pass the exam.
Although I guess it technically did matter in a way, because one of the criteria of being eligible to take the entrance exam was to score a minimum grade in certain subjects...

You might be a bit shocked to find out that certain companies, when hiring at my university in India, were using grades achieved in high school as a filter simply due to the large number of candidates who were applying...

Like most people fuck no getting good grades is not worth it at all, once graduated nobody cares about grades.
quick story I ended up postponing my personal work for school which includes some of the stories that I was writing until I just stop somewhere around 10th grade(worst mistake I've ever made now I'm regretting it, but currently recovering after the damage that the school system did to me) but in general yeah good grades does not matter once graduated.
