2022 Highlight - Games
Today I’m gonna cover some games that haven’t come up in the previous posts this month. There were some really great ones this year!
@Prox276 released Dynacore, an ambitious top-down roguelike shooter. He followed up with a big series of updates in response to user feedback, as well. You gotta play this!
@STANNco & @chocoholicmonkey teamed up to create a clever puzzle platformer about a bulb on a quest to rewire a city of light.
@being-brin and @Droqen hosted a high score competition for their novel top-down racing game. This one brought me back to feeling like a kid at the arcade. The energetic soundtrack by @ComposerEvans was some of my favorite music of the year.
For Pixel Day this year, @jefvel made a one button rhythm game set in a zombie apocalypse. This one was an instant classic and something I’d love to exhibit in a public indie game gallery space.
@adayofjoy turned up in April with the eerie Exhibit of Sorrows, only to then vanish without a trace. I wonder what they’re making next?
@Frosty and a whole team of talented artists took on the task of building an FNAF-inspired game in the Newgrounds universe. The results were terrifying!
@andrfw released three games this year that were so overflowing with personality and inventiveness, I had to include them all!
@dietzribi released two top-notch demos! One is Toodee and Topdee, a brilliant game that lets you shift between a side view and top down perspective to navigate puzzles. The other is Trouble Juice, an upcoming Run ‘ n Gun! Play the demos, then buy or wishlist on Steam!
Make your way through fiery caverns and alien fauna in this metroidvania by @jontopielski!
The JPs were powerful this year, with @johanpeitz also delivering a great metroidvania.
@sarnyoger and friends produced some exceptional entities for Ludum Dare and the Game Maker jam this year.
@Kultisti consistently cranks out interesting game concepts, here are a few from 2022!
@edgaaar crafted a variety of challenges based on the theme of a car with no brakes.
@sulpx has a great feel for game design, crafting a run ‘n gun with Treasure vibes.
@SECURAS made a quality platformer that left me wanting to see more from them!
@PizzaKiddo shared a demo of their upcoming Steam game and it’s a rock-solid brawler! Fans of beat ‘em up games definitely need to play this one.
@MELONKOI shared two games this year and both ooze with brilliant game feel. Definitely a dev you should be following!
If you like intense platforming action, @FFuriousDuck has made the game for you! Every run is unique and exciting and you’re being chased.
@Markanime released an entire Switch game on NG! The full version is unlocked by being a Newgrounds Supporter, which is much appreciated. The time traveling mechanic makes for novel level designs!
Just this week, @kaiakairos shared a delicious puzzle game about blowing up cakes!
There are so many more games but my post length is limited so I’ll stop here! To wrap things up, here are some interactive art collabs, where a variety of artists have their work displayed in a game-like format.
