Bury your panic, can you feel the static? Monochromatic.

iirc it's a pain to pirate Adobe products. For modern software, Adobe uses some cloud based system or something which makes it tricky. I could be wrong though, its been a while.

serious answer: you could ask people about the free alternatives, such as blender, krita something user friendly. or look for a movie editor with a one-time purchase instead of a monthly fee.

joke answer: OH NO! ADOBE ANIMATE IS THE ONLY ANIMATION SOFTWARE IN EXISTENCE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE! YOU GOTTA USE IT OR DIE! AAAAAAAAAAAA!

edit: added scream and link to a list of alternatives

If you're okay with a steep learning curve, use Blender for 2d animations

If you're looking for 2D/Vector based animation you can use OpenToonz. It's free.

It also does inbetweening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8i-T02RT5E

Only deal is that it runs kind of poorly if your computer is bad. You also won't have ActionScript shenanigans of flash but I don't think anybody really uses that.
