Politics forum I understand, keep the political bitching on Twitter. It's always the same group of people at each other's throats anyway.
The general was fun though, regardless of what the issue was. And if the supporter forum is still open, then whatever the issue was with the general forum may eventually show itself in the supporter forum anyway.

I am hoping whatever caused the frustration of dealing with GENERAL and POLITICS doesnt spill into other parts of the forum. POLITICS seem to be a really hot subject whenever theyre brought up.
I know SethSkoda quit along with some other fella but I don't entirely know the full story (and im not seeking it.)
If anyone made me count up all the hours I wasted on General in my teens, it would surely be in the thousands. Think of all the time the teenagers of today will save by closing that place.

Long story short, guy deleted his account because he was fed up with a mod, and other guy took a break from the BBS because tom was concerned with post activity. That is it, that's literally the entire drama lol*. People just took it too far, like all BBS dramas.

I think the forums helped keep people on NG longer, and it was a very easy way to find random discord servers and get some kinda extra layer of the NG community.
they have been going on for so long, and all the crack addicts who used that stuff on the daily are now without a home

Have no idea what went down in General that may have led to all of this, but I am not surprised. General is just a cesspool of toxicity. You either have to be part of the joke, or you have to have some thick skin. Unfortunately, most of the posters from General who enter the political section cause the most problems while being the most thin skinned after receiving some of their own medicine. I'm not surprised that the political section is getting closed as well, considering that closing General would just send a wave of refugees from it that would dogpile on that forum as a place to go and continue their shit-posting.

While I'm okay with this decision, it doesn't feel like something Newgrounds would do. It seemed to me that Newgrounds was always about enabling expression of the edgy/counterculture, so the idea that they'd go "PC" like this is a bit odd. I wonder if FnF dragged down the average user's age to the point where the platform NEEDED to make this sort of change.
