Abandonware games Aug 27, 2023

Does anyone else collect abandonware games these days? Cause I do! Their sort of like hidden games, And I have like a big a ol collection of them on my windows xp vm, I am sort of missing some few gamehouse ones, I already have the 150 gamehouse games pack, But there like also other game house games that got lost of time like aztec ball or damn beavers, Some don't even have unlock keys on them.

But yeah, I like just got into that again, And I got some few games up on my sleeve like, The crystal skull, Ben there Dan That, Cesar Dog whisperer, And some few crazy chicken games.

Yeah been building up the collection again! Do you guys also like collect abandonware games? If so, Any do you recommend playing?

"Abandonware is a product, typically software, ignored by its owner and manufacturer, and for which no official support is available".

Asterix and Obelix XXL. While the game was remastered recently, in my opinion it's kinda shit compared to the old pc version of it. So I suggest you find an old version of that game and give it a go. It's a really fun action adventure beat em up. I mean you play as a bunch of barbaric french dudes beating the shit out of romans, what's not to love?

Nice Might give it a try! Usually when it comes to games where they are already released as remasters, I think the best shot at finding them is at archive.org And not even a second I Already found it! Going to give it a shot someday! Game looks neat!

Hey! Beware of My Abandonware. Some games come with viruses. In fact, some time ago there was a little controversy about it, so... Be careful :D

Oh yeah, I am aware of that! Just noticed that too with the happy tree fiends copy since one of them was claiming it had trojan in it, Archive.org is honestly a way better source in my opinion, Compared to myabandonware, Think at best its for copies of think like fulltilt pinball And the yu gi oh games.

I remember there was a whole stash page of gamehouse games in archive.org, It downloaded games from the website but like, There are like several blogspot lists that had like gamehouse game codes in them, That allowed you to unlock them.

I have still yet to find that. Its also where I found that one game, That I was searching for long called mini robot wars

Those look like cool games!

I still have Wildtangent downloaded on my PC but I don't go on it much. Two games I loved playing on it were Purrfect Petshop and Cat Wash, which were both time-management games about pets (I now realise how much I seemed to like time-management games lol).

iu_1063172_17703774.png

This is Purrfect Petshop. You'd take care of pets and then figure out which pets the customers want with the hints they give you.

iu_1063171_17703774.jpg

And this is Cat Wash. You just wash cats. And then you roll them up in a blanket and they look like burritos (I found that really funny as a kid for some reason).

These look cute and fun! Love how we had genres of time management, And like several genres of other games that wildtangent and gamehouse had, I used to own like a game too called varmintz, Where its basically racoon frogger, And another game called Lemonade tycoon which ad you maintain a lemonade stand with like an 8bit art style, And another game where you played as a duck who would attack beavers with watermelons that have words on them

Theres also a gambling game I know of, That like, Had a character creator, and I ended up making the farmer from shaun the sheep, And I made up a lore where he is like indebt and his about to lose his farm, So he has to like gambel to hell, I forgot the game's name but I would love to play it again, And make the farmer again

Wildtangent sounds familiar to me, did they make any games that ever came by default with Windows machines?

Remember waaay back, My sister got her laptop, Since I had my pc (Believe me it was one of my happiest days out there since I finally had the pc being all mine) And basically a bunch of wild tangent games came prepacked with her laptop, So yeah I think so, But actual default windows games? Nope not really different company.

Mostly, but including the stipulation that for a game to be abandonware, it must not have any re-releases available on current platforms (including Steam, Epic, GOG etc); in other words, there is no longer any possible way to legitimately purchase it from its copyright holder. It's also pretty much only applied to PC games; console games are generally not considered to be abandonware.

I already have megaman x4 as a iso for my psx emulator, But theres like a standalone pc port of megaman x4, The problem is that it comes with no video nor music, So you have to use fan patches for that. Pretty bizzare, Most psx to pc ports deal with the no audio issues and no cutscenes too, Simpsons hit and run pc port is another example of this
