Is it the Super Mario Bros Movie or the Five Nights at Freddy Movie, both made by Universal Studios?

I like both a lot. I'm a Mario fan and while I like FNaF games I'm not a huge fan. Both of the movies were great in my eyes so it's hard to choose. Mario Movie might be the one I like a little bit more because bias and it has great animation.
Critics think the Tetris Movie that was also released this year is better than both FNaF and Mario combined.
there's also that GameSpot movie
Here are my takes on both movies:
The Mario movie felt very cliche and safe, which is perfectly fine, but it just wasn’t for me. The animation looked great though.
The Fnaf movie felt rushed and I couldn’t get immersed in it because everything happened so fast (also that one montage scene really took me out of it). The setting and the real animatronics looked awesome however, and the horror was decent for a franchise that can’t get too dark because its main audience is kids.
Overall, I wouldn’t call either of these movies my favourite, but I enjoyed watching the Fnaf movie more than the Mario movie. Probably because I was always more of a Fnaf fan.
Chillin' and grillin'
Mario movie by a longshot. Both movies were fun and full of i-Spy easter eggs for the fans but FNAF movie suffered from needing to be a family-friendly horror movie. The deaths were all bloodless and offscreen. Great watch if you can appreciate practical effects though. They built real animatronics for the movie.
The Tetris movie from what I heard wasn't even an accurate retelling of the game's history/development. Film critics already have a superiority complex surrounding video games so I wouldn't trust their opinion on a video game movie by any metric. They probably liked the Tetris movie because it wasn't really a video game movie. It was a cold war/business venture movie that used Tetris as a plot device.

Indeed was.

Yes, but that is less focused on Tetris itself and more on the drama thriller side of things
I gotta give it to FNAF, personally
I liked both well enough, but I'm a sucker for some good practical effects, and the animatronics looked absolutely amazing

Fnaf and Msrio
Best regards
I just realized that nobody in this thread mention Gran Turismo film... which makes it probably the most forgottable video game movie this year.

Maybe because it was based on a true story that turned the main character from gamer to racist!

Mario movie ftw
Either way, I'm really scared that other studios are going to look at this year and realize, "screw superhero movies, videogame movies is where the shit is at", and then we get 20 new videogame movies for the following years until each and every franchise is sucked dry.
FNAF because of the quotation"We are FNAF"
I respect both immensely for being great adaptations of their respective games. Like, they're actually proud of being based on a video game and make full use of the source material
I definitely prefer the FNAF movie tho, and not just due to me being more of a FNAF fan. The Mario movie was very by the numbers and suffered from being way too fast paced. Also felt a lot less like a story and more like an hour and a half of "hey, look at the thing you know!!!"
The FNAF movie had issues such as a few plot/character inconsistencies (could argue that's game accurate lol) but managed to tell a good story with some unique spins that didn't totally divert from the original premise. It could definitely have leaned more into the spooky side than the goofy side, but it still knew when to take itself seriously. William Afton was also better in this movie than he has been since FNAF 3 so I appreciated that too
TL;DR Both are good but FNAF was more of it's own movie while Mario was more a series of Easter eggs
Well to me it's a matter of just how low can you go and make a mess trying to adapt a game, so clearly FNAF takes the cake here because it's got endless bad movie night potential.
Mario Bros is the best movie, I saw it 3 times
I luv both
ill go for fnaf, i like how the animatronics looked, i thought they'd look weird going into it.

This sounds like the "YA Novel Adaptation" all over again.
I went to go see Mario in theaters due to how long they had it cooking for like 6+ years and was pretty decent with the plot you would expect.
Five nights is just all around strange and was able to find pirate website showing it since its not a theatre exclusive lol.
I know its unrelated to video games but I hope the Godzilla film next month is good with it being a theatre exclusive and should be immersive on the big screen.

Kind of sad that we will never get that sci-fi Tetris trilogy that was planned a few years ago.
Turning Tetris into a Cold War drama is an unexpected bu welcome surprise.

The closest thing to Tetris sci-fi is Pixels.
